Loooong day.

First thing I did was swap 3rd members for the ARB locked one built by @Ozark cruiser

Then I fetched the parts from the Zepp soak and blasted them clean

Front Range Big Brake Kit
Seems like there are enough people running these things that there would be a write up or two but my searching skills failed me so I dove off in the Front Range Off Road Big Brake kit install based on the 2 pictures I could find on their site

This kit will widen the front 1.5” per side and allow me to eliminate the spacers needed to run the 17” wheels on these 34s
IMG_5499.webp

As you can see, these hubs come bare so you need new studs (ARP is what I used) and was supposed to have hardened pins that I did not get so I had to order some.

IMG_5481.webp

Oh, also I was told to buy these wheel studs and they are fine with the steel wheels but they would not work with a thicker wheel like a Fifteen52

You also need to order some backing plate eliminators and if you want to ditch the short soft line and small hard line setup, order some stainless brake lines. Valley Hybrids is where I normally get these items.

So……going from my one photo instructions I did not realize you must swap the knuckles from side to side to put the stock brake ears to the front so the new brake bracket will fit. I got the passenger side fully built until I realized it. That sucks.

Got it now.

The brake calipers I used and rotors are 5th generation 4Runner and they are massive. This makes rotor change a snap as they fit over the wheel studs
IMG_5489.webp

This is the size difference compared to the 70 caliper

I ordered the hardened pins so I’ll be Wednesday before I can get the hubs on and test the brakes out.

Tomorrow I’m going to add the ARB compressor and make these lockers do their thing.

Info on this brake mod from the 60 series forum 80 series rear axle with front axle Tundra brake mod - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/80-series-rear-axle-with-front-axle-tundra-brake-mod.1170432/

do you think you can fit a 16in wheels?

The calipers I chose would not but they have two other options that will and it would be the perfect offset for your 62 with the 80 series rear axle you have planned. See the link from Godwin above

Today was wire up the ARB day.

First I picked a spot under the bed for the compressor and got it mounted.

That was a bitch because the way they have the captured nuts in the mount. I drilled the holes and held it in place with my screw jack

Next I ran the wires into the cab. There is a nice grommet on the passenger rear that I fed the wires into.

The 75 has 3 perfect blanks for the switches but as luck would have it they were too small.

I had to make a wire loom extension for the power and ground and I had to tap into switched 12v. I pulled that off the cigarette lighter wire.
IMG_5509.webp

They work. I have to run the air lines tomorrow and I think I’ll have the Wizard make a splash guard for the compressor

Ran the ARB hoses before lunch and everything tested out good.

We are double locked up. The EXLax 75.

I got the bumperettes back from powder. Got a nice texture on them so you don’t bust your ass stepping up on them

Put in some rivnuts under the tailgate for the tag.

Mail man dropped off some arm rest cup holders.
IMG_5525.webp

UPS dropped a Come Up 12.5 synthetic. You need a Slee offset fairlead for the ARB bumper. Added a Factor 55 hook.

Tomorrow I’ll get the hub pins in so I can go test drive it.

i thought the wizard was gonna add a little to those bumperettes?

We decided they were stout enough. Also the owner canceled his trip to the rockcrawl park so maybe it will just get smashed in a few dirt ditches.

I will be curious of your impressions of those arm rest once you get a little seat time with them. I have been seeing them pop up on Instagram and I they have caught my attention.

We sell a ton of them here in Africa and they are very handy with the window up and provide a comfortable arm rest compared to the steel door frame.

What master cylinder are you planning on using? You’re probably going to want to do the T100 which is the biggest bore Toyota MC with the common 4-bolt flange

do you have a part number for it?
thanks

Was hoping no change but I have not driven it yet.

And I have the armrests in my 60 and 200 and love them

It might be ok since the +90 have the slightly bigger bore

The brakes are soft and feel like I have air but I bled them

Rear.

LBPV

Front.

When I pump them up and use them the rear is doing more than the monster fronts.

Pulls to the left.

Man. That’s disappointing

Tips and tricks welcome.

If brakes are bled, then there should be equal pressure on both sides on the calipers. So the only other place to look would be the calipers themselves. They sell rebuild kits for them. I suspect one side is moving more freely than the other. Love the ute! Best of luck on mitigating this gremlin...
