Anyone know for sure…is Black Bear open or closed as of today 6/16?

I’ve got a friend that will be there 6/23 & I told him I would try to find out. I think it’s still closed but from what I’ve searched I can’t tell for certain.
don’t think so

Keebler is nice right now. I'd hit lake city over engineer to get to ouray when the snow clears a bit more.

That's the way we took when we left last year. It was a nice exit.

Any midwesterners going to SAS that I can buy you some fuel to pull my camping trailer to Colorado? Just out. Not back.

I'm hoping it'll actually be done before the event.

I might be towing vs driving now: will know when I get back after the 4th, might have room - I’d say keep looking until I know more

Where is it being built? Pick up location?

It's in Minnesota. I'm in Minnesota. I'm out of room and out of weight capacity for my mess going out. I'm going to be around 22k# with two rigs on the flatbed. I was thinking I could strap it to the gooseneck, but I'm already pushing a ton of ball weight. Plus a jobbox full of parts behind the cab, and all of our gear for a week and half.

The 40 is staying in Colorado after the event, that's why the camping trailer doesn't need a ride home.

You're in Virginia? I could get it to somewhere in Iowa easily. I've got friends in Des Moines I could drop it there a week ahead of time. That's about an hour out of the way it looks like for you.

This all depends on whether the fab guy actually gets it done too. Which I'm at about 50/50. I still have to get it wired, get bedliner on the bed, and mount up the RTT. I'd like to get some storage/organization figured out in the bed too.

Roger that. If you're towing, we'll be a better match for convoying out there too. I don't go real fast, but I go faster than a 40. lol

Downside is I'm expecting if we have a head wind, I'll be around 5mpg too going through the wasteland flats.

I don't want to talk about the mountains, but it's apocalyptical climbing the grades when you're holding a pickup to the floor for a half hour at a time. lol
Downside is much improved though!

I have reserved RV site with power/water (Site 61) with room to spare if anyone is needing a camp site still. So far it is only me in my 60 so we can easily fit another 1-2 trucks if need be.

So after doing a knuckle job you find a gold nugget in the bottom of your parts washer. Is it yours or the customers? How I adore Colorado land cruisers .It's smaller than the picture looks.

Sweet.... Now the forest service will know who to give the tickets too when we roll a rig on Poughkeepise gultch.. " Yes officer the gentlemen In the back in the green 40 is the leader he said it was ok"!!!!

They'll exchange seven words with me or Chris and it'll be plenty clear we ain't in charge. 🤣

Has anyone heard from KOA Jeff lately? I sent him a note asking which site I have but I have not heard back. It's been a while.

Call the office. I called last week to confirm my spot number as well. Nice lady on the phone helped me out.

Nubs and huckles coming up tomorrow morning when it's under 90 degrees. By the power of @OTRAMM, my first time with an 80 should go okay. Wish me luck.

Tear down complete. Temperature 90 degrees. Found a broken knuckle stud held in with grease.
Back home to eat Father’s Day bbq. Happy Father’s Day to those who observe.
Really hard on all the bushings to let the axle hang down in the full drup position for extended periods of time.
I prefer it supported at ride height to help extend bushings life. 😎

That tow rig must be a gaser 🤮

I won't buy a modern diesel. My 01 was phenomenal. My 18 was pathetic with the emissions crap. Plus it's a time bomb of parts.

We should be about 23k# too.

"Just delete it" DOT screws with me too much

Plus, you can't get anything anymore with a standard transmission.

Once the 40 is done, I'm seriously considering building a pickup. I hate modern vehicles. Too much reliance on chips. Give me a key to energize a starter and a cable to cut off fuel

Love my 2017 6.7
Camper wet is over 5k lbs. trailer with everything is 10k
Never slows down, 10 mpg
Every mile is a head wind with that camper.

I bought a 2024 Ford pickup 7 weeks. POS is already failing. But can't ask for much when a rubber floored work truck is $54k dollars 😆.

Shame it's time to dump it with 1900 miles on the clock. 🤣

I can't cash flow a diesel pickup either. $200 in supplies changing the oil, $12k uncharge, 30% increased fuel cost, 15% increase mileage.

My last f350 average mileage was 9.8mpg at trade in.
My 18 ram ram was 11.3 it 66k miles.
My 01 Ram was 15.3 at 298k miles
