I bought a 2024 Ford pickup 7 weeks. POS is already failing. But can't ask for much when a rubber floored work truck is $54k dollars 😆.

Shame it's time to dump it with 1900 miles on the clock. 🤣

I can't cash flow a diesel pickup either. $200 in supplies changing the oil, $12k uncharge, 30% increased fuel cost, 15% increase mileage.

My last f350 average mileage was 9.8mpg at trade in.
My 18 ram ram was 11.3 it 66k miles.
My 01 Ram was 15.3 at 298k miles
Over 40k miles loaded like you see it with out issues.
It’s a toy for me and only use it to tow my rigs
around and camping trips.
I can’t see doing the oil changes when my dealer does it for $150.
I happily pay the 30% increase fuel price to be able to fly up any grade at 70-80 MPH fully loaded setting in my air conditioned leather seats 😎

Last year on the way to SAS it was 118* ambient temperature outside as we past through Barstow and Vegas up into Utah and she never missed a beat fully loaded AC blasting.
IMO totally worth the price of admission !

Really hard on all the bushings to let the axle hang down in the full drup position for extended periods of time.
I prefer it supported at ride height to help extend bushings life. 😎
That's something I hadn't thought of. I wrapped it up this morning, and they were hanging for 8 days. The good news is I actually have new bushings to install with eimkeith brackets after SAS. : )

I won't buy a modern diesel. My 01 was phenomenal. My 18 was pathetic with the emissions crap. Plus it's a time bomb of parts.

We should be about 23k# too.

"Just delete it" DOT screws with me too much

Plus, you can't get anything anymore with a standard transmission.

Once the 40 is done, I'm seriously considering building a pickup. I hate modern vehicles. Too much reliance on chips. Give me a key to energize a starter and a cable to cut off fuel
Now see why Randy said we will be good friends. Only really need 2 wires to make mine run. Starter cable and the "hold" wire on my P3000 pump. Well even the starter wire is not needed. Just a good little hill to pop start it. @mesa man saw me pop start it in reverse on top of Engineer one time lol.

I get it, but they aren't worth it to me. It's a tool to me. I buy the cheapest, most capable pickup worth the lowest operating cost I can get my hands on.

I loved my 01. It was a monster and bulletproof. But it wasn't canbus and my taillights didn't have a microchip in them. Hindsight, I should've kept it.

Apparently hi end work in Minnesota isn’t all that. 😂

All the fuel is expensive here but not a 30% difference😂

My DD is very cost affordable

I'd have to look, I don't know what either is here. I want to say gas is like 3.10 and diesel is 3.80
Add unicorn pee to your the equation as well.

You're barking up the wrong tree if you think I'm against diesel. It's a far superior fuel source for just about anything. It's just the modern ones are a joke. You gotta spin the piss out of them to get any power out of them and owning a high mileage one is a financial mistake.
Emissions regulations has ruined them.

Even the R2.8 in the 40, it drives like a clattery gasser. You gotta rev the balls off it to make any power. It's only got an egr.
My 18 Ram Ram behaved about the same

I’m not sure what you considered revving ?
The 6.7 super duty makes peak torque out about 2800 RPMs
I never rev more than that as there’s no need
I call it stupid powerful.
I agree the emissions suck but you got to have them.
In your own words your holding the gas petal to the floor for a half a hour at a time to get up the pass’s
Never have to do that with the diesel’s
There’s millions of the new diesel’s out there a few people have issues and they’re all bad.
No one ever complains when the truck is running perfect, only when they’re having issues.

Enough about diesel trucks 42 more days to SAS 😎
We will actually be there in 39 🥰

I have 19 days left to work on my stuff and I'm stressing lol

@POTATO LAUNCHER what’s the convoy looking like this year? With the potential HWY 50 closure deal I’m wondering if the usual stop at Classic Cruisers, etc is happening.
Still gathering info and watching the CDOT updates regularly. Texas Convoy will be happening again as it's tradition now. If HWY 50 isn't ready in time we will have a few options to choose from.

Gosh dang, I'm getting 20 MPG AVG. WITH MY 2006 6.6 Duramax w/87k. Programed.

Looking at close to a 4000 mile round trip, I just want to see fuel prices low! We are currently at 3.65 for diesel. And yes 41 days till I get out there.

At what weight?
Your number seem really low, two of the guys that I wheel with both have Dodge diesels 2016 -2017 there both Crew Cab short beds with camper shells
( not big overhead Campers like mine ) and both have built 4runners and tow them. I would say around 7K lbs in tow with camping gear in the back. they both get 15 MPG towing and 19-21 HWY not towing.
I average between 9.5 & 11 with the Camper on, doesn't matter if I'm towing the 80 or not it's the big ass Camper up there like a sail pushing all that air.
Empty I'm at 15 MPG HWY but the Camper hardly ever comes off
