This isn't anything new to the area.

The fire seems to have reached the Owl Creek Pass road (the squiggly white line below).

Looks like there is a good chance for monsoonal patterns to start on Monday for Ouray!!
Here in NM, we also have fires burning all over and today is a very smoky day in the neighborhood, we are forecasted for the same patterns to begin this weekend... 🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️
This is for Ouray:

Maybe we all need to see our rigs covered in mud this year!! I know BIG Betty likes the mud, she keeps getting it all over and not wanting to let it go....

Really just now beginning the 60’s ‘get ready’ process for our 2 day drive out to Ouray. Mostly minor stuff but all of it necessary.
1) earlier this month I installed new seat cushions in the marvelously worn out front seats. Then reinstalled my relatively new Carhartt seat covers.
2) self installed new front seat belts from SeatBeltPlanet. Straight forward install but cumbersome with the seats installed.
3) self installed a new Tuffy Center Console, which did not assist the seat belt install.
4) topped off all fluids & rechecked torque settings on the front end & both drive shafts. I highly recommend using torque paint.
5) removed everything from the back end except for the ARB Fridge, air compressed a ton of dirt/debris from the area.
6) put back all my Trail Tools & recovery gear. Didn’t remove much but for some reason I have much more room.

Getting there, not much more to do other than pack/load our personal gear & luggage.

Getting ready for SASx by staging the 75 in Austin! Left on 26th June from Princeton NJ and rolled into Austin after an easy drive around 1430 on the 28th. I’m a firm believer in a 1800 mile shake down run😀. The 75 performed flawlessly on the trip out. Got to do some camping, sightseeing and visiting Tilda Bogue service station for a reunion
Found a nice site just outside Knoxville the first night with a spot to wash off in a creek in the morning.

Got off the super slab and took backroads from Louisiana and across into Texas.

Grateful to have checked this area out last year with a tip from a buddy who grew up fishing the cimarron w/ his grandpa. We were planning to overnight by the river this year 8/1, but looks like that won’t be happening 😔
