@Land Shark 😬
Accidental prophet?

My dumb ass all, “drive it! What could go wrong?!?”

@mtn biker drives it a couple miles and “what” went wrong.

Sucks.

Now let’s solve.
Not this Friday but next it is going to @Cruiserhiggs for help

I went with this setup. Came with 2 antennas and coax for both.

This one is the test bed. It will probably end up in Sarah's 80 and I'll get a 50 watt. Well, because, you know... 50WATTS!:grinpimp:

Getting the FCC license is convoluted at best. IE, it's daunting to navigate.

This video was extremely helpful for me. I recommend it.

I’ve been in deep concentration for the past few weeks and I am about 20 pages behind. I got hit really hard with Adobe creative suite. I am printing t-shirts for summer events. If I have any leftover I will bring them with me to Ouray. I can’t wait to pull into camp.
Mike may need an intervention at camp.

IME the only ones getting pissy about you not have the license is licensed radio operators

:meh:
I don't mind being legal.

I have a dual band Rugged Radio and a Boefang handheld. They are both programmable, which I wanted so that I could add local repeaters.

One thing to note about the licenses is that your callsign is required to register with many repeaters, otherwise I don’t know how necessary a license is.

If you are in to programming, which is great for anding emergency communications, I’ve added a few resources below. I noticed that the Ouray repeater is no longer listed on the Colorado West Region Repeater Association’s website. I’ll do some digging on that.

Something to note that is not well known for folks visiting Colorado is that the Colorado Search and Rescue monitors and utilizes FRS/GMRS 462.61250 MHz, aka channel 3, for emergency operations. They have repeaters with private tones for long-distance communication but it is common etiquette in CO to stay away from channel 3 unless there is an emergency.

More on that here: FRS Radio Use for Backcountry SAR Position Paper : 04/10/23 - Colorado Search and Rescue Association - https://coloradosar.org/frs-radio-use-for-backcountry-sar-position-paper-04-10-23/
Excellent info Mike

Why not bring a little bit of your Land Cruiser in to decorate your house with you? Throw it on the easy chair or the couch. Or keep one in the back of the truck for passengers. These pillows use reproduction early 60 Series upholstery and are roughly 13”x13”. Hand sewn Machine sewn by hand with love by Karen (who a lot of you know).

Here’s the link.

Delivery to SAS10?

Delivery to SAS10?
Absolutely, I'm always happy to deliver orders to SAS! Every year it's 3-5 orders and that's manageable for loading into the 60. If it gets to be 10+ orders I might have to think about other ways to transport!

I can put 10 pillows in the back of my Cruiser. What all are you bringing!

A dog, raffle items, and enough supplies to be off grid for several days on either side of the actual event. I could fill the back of the 60 with pillows but then the dog would have to run beside the truck the whole way there! Realistically I can look into getting an additional bin for the roof rack - the 60 is already brick shaped so I can just make it even more brick shaped.

I was giving you a hard time. I can put quite a few pillows in my camper if you need. My charge would be one pillow. Ha.

Again I was 8 pages behind but caught up now. Missed the radio conversation but I am interested in installing something with headset that might blue tooth music until there is radio traffic coming through. Does such a combination exist?

The 45 is kinda loud.

Kinda loud?

I was considering this package but Matt @Ditcherman found a better setup with a rocker switch intercom and wireless headsets. Matt, post what you shared with us outside of this thread.
