Landed back home in Northern MI. Somehow the belt tensioner at the idler pulley on the 60 came unhooked. Spent a little time in Nebraska quick fixing that. I hope you guys found the 3 bottles of bourbon I left for Thursday Trivia in Cozy Cabin 5. I wanted to keep it air conditioned since the carnage award Weller and the SAS engraved Whistle Pig bottles blew their cork in the heat of the HQ tent. The Willet was from a limited allocation and I’ve never even had it. Lmk how it tastes!!!!! Great to reconnect w everyone.

I see the suction cups so I thought they might be from solar screen at first, but it looks like a different stitch pattern.

FWIW, I just priced out a full set from Solar Screen for my 60, comes out to AUD$453 + AUD$190 shipped to US.

Build Thread '76 FJ40 in South Texas'

Just received the best Christmas present ever, a 76 FJ40 soft top. Bought it a few months back but was sitting in Seattle until the right time to ship it down to Texas.

looks pretty here next to the 97 Series 80, and a real baby in terms of miles, the 80 has 350k miles, and the FJ40 has 71k, if the odometer is to be believed.
The cold hard light of day shows a reasonable body and frame condition. The wiring is a mess, and the Holly carb needs a good tune up.
Made some space in the garage, and started making lists of things to do/fix. It is a long list and getting longer...

I wanted to get "snap shades" but at the time they weren't interested in making templates for me, so I got these a couple years ago, they've been great so far and appear to be really well made. I got these before the tariff situation and felt they were really reasonable for the quality.

I keep a relatively decent account of the gallons I use to track mpg. Mostly for curiosity sake but also to help identify any problems that may be arising.

If I remember, I’ll post my total.

Approximately 154 gallons of fuel over 2,264.8 miles (adjusted for tires) for an average of 14.7 mpg.

Had a lot of good wind both directions.

Good to be home but now the least favorite part of putting everything away starts…
