Keep up the good work!

this thread needs more pics!!!

Thanks!!
Well once the garage gets warmed up, I will become more motivated to take some pics...when your working environment is in the 30's...let me tell ya it sucks! Your hands don't work right for some reason:clap:.

Have you finished your build?

My forward progress has slowed a bit, but still moving forward!

I took a looksee at your build...looks like your going well...did not know you picked up an 81 for trail riding! Congrats.

The weather was good today...I painted the rest of the frame...I'll try to get the heater installed this weekend...then the fun starts.

The front of the tub came back from the sandblaster, I can see clearly now what needs to be done and it's not a little work...:frown:

Need to get new body mounts for the front of the tub and one of the mid body mounts is rusted...need one of those also.

rest should be cut and weld....easier said than done:bang:

I guess all the late model 40's rusted in the same spots.

My fronts were toast as well as the mid body. Oscar sells both the front mounts and the mid body tub "bridge."

You've probably seen my pictures of exact same problem. Definitely no rust now.

I almost bought a 2nd '81 but decided I'm happier married than single! Ha Ha Ha...

I know...I am on a strict diet of only one Land Cruiser at a time (imposed by the wife). I'm hoping I can bring back an HZJ of some sort (hopefully something with a turbo diesel) back from Portugal...

I'm gona give Oscar a call in GA, I need to get those mounts and I also need the bottom half of the windshield frame...

Soon as I get my oil pan gasket from CCOT and install the spare oil pan with it...the motor, tranny and transfer are going in...get the cherry picker out of there and I'll have a little elbow room.

Pics will follow...:hillbilly:

Heat is on the way...gas is installed, heater is installed. I need to get electricity to it and the thermostat then the flue...almost there.

Back end of the frame has been put back together, axles are back in, motor has a new oil pan (straighter and less rust than the original).

Next....put tires on axles and move the chassy so I can put the engine in...

Got done late today...pictures for next time.

It seems a shame to put that dirty ol' engine back in that beautiful frame. :) Funny looking at pics of someone else's project and seeing your engine hoist. I'm glad I could help and loan that to you, after all, that's what clubs are for.

You didn't even power wash that engine, then you could have at least powder coated the block to match the body. Then add chrome bling and LED's...what a slacker :D

It's not too late Leon, I can take the whole thing out and take it to your house and you can work on the engine while I work on the body!!:grinpimp:

I feel bad putting the dirty engine back into the shiny black frame...but the engine is not rusty and is running good...it will be for next time.

Bumperettes are installed....

CCOT Bumperettes?

Did you use SS hardware? I haven't put mine on yet for fear I would get ribbed by my fellow mudders!

Naw, I just took mine into my powder coater...he did a great job.

I used Galvanized hardware. I'm putting on stuff as I go, no real scheme to it...I need the space in the garage for painting...so if I can get a few pieces on to make some room...I'm on it.
