Rui--

I don't know how interchangable they are but I have an instrument cluster from an early 80's 60 that I don't need after all--let me know if you need anything out of it....

Eric

Eric thanks for the offer, looking at the 60 dash there is nothing we can swap that I can tell.

The odometer is fixed...back to the dirty work...:)

Odometer lube...

Rui,

I've had good luck with "Marvel Mystery" oil. The red stuff. Apply on the shaft with an appropriate tool - toothpick works fine, as this is a kitchen table project. Make sure there is no excess that will drip, you just need a film of oil. I think its been right at 10 years since the last time I had to do this. I always am curious when it comes time to roll 4 or more digits when its really cold out, to see if it will happen, but so far, so good!

Darryl,
I got her fixed up, I used some "goo be gone" and that broke down all the nasty stuff, It spins freely and easily, should be real easy on the odometer since it is so slow spinning...I cleaned all the little plastic cogs so she is pretty slick. I cut some of the shielding on the lights, because I could hardly see the speedo at night...should work better now.

The cab is off the frame, there is a little more rust damage than I thought, but these projects are all the same...you always get more to do than you expect.

I am moving on now to get a Cherry Picker and try to just lift off the engine, tranny and transfer case all together, then just un-latch the axles and take some of the brake lines off...off to the sand blaster it goes...(anybody that can help me on the cherry picker issue and transportation to and from the sand blasters...would be greatly appreciated). "sorry I don't have any stickers to compensate with...but I did make a lovelly club logo...":p

again...work continues..

Ok, reached the point that I can't proceed without a little help...

Anybody in the club have a trailer and is willing to help me get the frame to the sandblasting/powedercoating shop?

They only work during week days...so I'm stuck in that aspect.

Any help will be greatly appreciated...

Rui,

I have a trailer but I have scheduling problems for this week.

Maybe Monday would work. Call me and we can figure out a plan.

Thanks Chuck,
I will give you call when I get to the house...:bounce::bounce2:

Frame is at the sandblasters...thanks to Chuck for using his trailer.

You getting it powder coated? Spray paint is just not going to hold up, but make sure you do all your welding first, like for sliders and bumpers.

I am not going to powder coat it, I am going to use "chassis saver" it's well known and I have not heard anything bad about it except that it does not have a UV blocker...it's exactly the same as POR 15, but without the UV...which makes it cheaper...it's going on the frame so I'm not worried about UV under the vehicle. I am going to dilute it by 2 parts and spray it on so I can get all the nooks and crannies...the frame has some circular holes in it that I just can't get with a brush...so I think this is best.

I am getting it sandblasted so I can see any stress fractures and mend them...if I powder coat over the frame without looking at it, I could be overlooking potential problems.

Chuck and I saw the sand blaster they use...it's industrial...should be no problem getting that thing nice and clean.

I am going to take advantage of the frame not being here to install the lunch box locker...and get some body work done....

I'm not sure about sliders...I need the cab back on it so I can measure how far I need to go....

It's a labor a love...if I didn't like that F:censor:g thing so much...I would have sold it a long time ago...but it's taken me to such great places...I would never have seen without it...I think I'm paying it back, by getting the old girl looking "smoking hot" again!

Thanks for the help you guys have given me so far...I really need to get the transfer case rebuilt (while the motor is out)...anybody got any experience in that field? Need some on the job training...

I've got a leak in my transfer case--once you suffer thru yours I'll be knocking on your door!

I think the needle bearings need to be replaced on mine...so little more work than a leak....

Ran into a snag getting the lunch box locker in the back axle....

Hopefully Vic will see this post...I got it all in but I can't fit the steel shaft with the spacers in place...help!!!
