Didn't this project start by rebuilding a winch?

No that's what you call getten it done.

Yep, I rebuilt the Warn 8274, it looked so nice I really did not want to put it on a rusty FJ40 like mine was and the rest is history...if you go to the first page of this site you will see the winch...

Ironically I don't have the winch bumper...so I can't put my shinny winch on....

Great Job! :beer::beer::beer:

Is that an oem blue? Also, what happened to your winch?

Yep, she is painted TOY857 same code she came out of the assembly line with.

The winch is done, I just don't have the bumper to put it on, I wanted a 4plus bumper from man-a-fre, but they would freight ship it...I have no idea how long that would take, so I skipped it for now.

Updates ? with pictures please...

The last photo you see here is exactly the same way it went into storage. I am serving overseas now, so when I get back it should be good to go. I still need to paint the hard top and finish her up.

x2 buddy.

I forgot to mention in the email the :princess: got her HAM radio license last week :cool:

Yep, I miss you guys and my FJ40 too...I left right before the heat wave hit there...I would have done plenty of trails this year with you guys...the are getting to the end of the big inspection here on base...so I'm starting to get some free time back. There are plenty of Land Cruisers here and I have some Photos...I'll try and post next week. Since 4x4 is on hold I am getting back into Ham Radio...getting ready to setup my 50' tower and do some DX. Congrats chuck, you have a 75% ham family...need one more for 100%...that becomes dangerous...people will start fighting for radios...haha.

If any of you guys are heading this way (Azores, Portugal), let me know, you might be heading to the Island I'm on...we have a a place for you to stay!

I have Echolink configured but only on a temp basis, I'm still setting up my Ham Shack. Probably next week I should be 100%, just do a search on Echolink for K0RUI-L. Ok folks...gotta get to work...the 2 more days of inspection...then...:beer::beer::beer:.

You are already forgetting peoples screen names and real names. :doh: All that oxygen rich and salty air must be affecting your memory.:lol:

Sorry Leon...I send these responses at about 0530 in the morning...right after I get up..so your gona have to give me credit on this one...at least I kept it to someone in the club..:p

I am taking time off next week...I want to get the tower and antennas up...I will be DX ready. Hope you guys do some runs with some HF gear and see if I can reach you up in the mountains.

Cheers and beers.

The only one of us that can do HF is Chuck :( i'm looking at getting my general as soon as i have time. I've learned that having a tech license is like telling people you have a 4x4 and showing up to the trail in a geo tracker. Most hams i run into don't talk on 2 meter. Who knows how long it will take me to get a base station....
