Very cool build. What's the plan for the top end? Cam. Roller rockers. Flow the head a bit. Forced induction ;)
Be interesting to see some comparo dyno charts at some point.

The lower rotating inertia must be great for accel. I'd say lighten the flywheel a few lbs, but you probably want some amount of inertia for low rpm/torq off road/crawling. A trade off perhaps.
Thanks for sharing the details. Sourcing the pistons and rods must have taken some work.
We have some dyno comparisons in early threads versus a stock 2F. 70% increase at the wheels. Big numbers.
 
It’s hard out here for a pimp shop owner. The difficulty is finding the time to give these builds the attention turn they deserve and not cut corners somewhere else in life. Alas, I’ve paid my time taxes/captain of the ship duties for the week and can finally give it some love.

First up is to balance the rods & pistons, assemble, install the bearings. These were close enough (.5g spread across all) that they did not need any balancing. I spread the weight around like I wanted and gave them a cylinder number and then assembled everything minus the rings:

Performance aftermarket rings seem to always be file to fit. First step, calculate the ring gaps needed:

Next up measure the 1st & 2nd gaps and compare to the calculation.

The top rings measured .010-.011”, and the second rings .013-0.15”, so about .006 fat minimum all around.

I upgraded to an electric grinder a few builds ago and it has been nice vs the manual one I started with. You do have to pay attention to what you’re doing it you can take too much off with zero effort (Ask me how I know)

Once the rings are groovy, apply to pistons
