Rod Knock or Exhaust Leak or something else...

Its hard to tell from the video you posted, but it sounds like a "once around" from a belt or a fan blade or something similar. It should be fairly easy to localize if you stick your head under the bonnet.

Yep. Haven't had time to really get in to it. Heading over to @Dudleyfj40 to get a second opinion in person. And not give him a hard time for breaking the nipple on his radiator...

It does not sound like an exhaust leak. It could also be excess thrust clearance on the oil pump drive gear. Try turning your steering wheel L and R while standing still and see if the noise changes. The oil pump gear also drives the PS pump.

I will check this momentarily and report back.

Just went for a drive in mine and it sounds exactly like yours. Same speed and intensity.

Me 3.... Sounded exactly like this from the day I bought it. I have a feeling mine is alternator bearing. I once sprayed it with PB Blaster and it seemed to go away for a few hours, but that was it.

Didn't notice a difference. But not sure I know exactly what I should be listening for.

@Dudleyfj40 was listening to it and it wouldn't replicate. So we took it for a drive. Nothing. Then I turned left and it started to do it and was louder. I'll post a video of it.

Motor mounts all good?

I noticed my alternator pulley looks "different" than my other pulleys. It has a slight surface rust on it.

Probably not. No idea if they have ever been replaced or not. They are on my list of "things to do"...

It sure doesn't sound like motor mounts. Prior to replacing the mounts on my 92 you could see the motor shaking and could feel it on bumps. This doesn't feel like that did.

fan clutch hitting the fan shroud. new motor mounts for you

This is the video of last night. It was quiet. Not making any noise. Then made a couple of left turns and it started.

I always recommend newbies look for some local support from us 'cruiserheads' that have been in this for a while. Maybe post on your local forum and see if someone more familiar with toyota land cruisers can help?

His Joey is 2500 1700 miles away.

2-3 foot chunk of 3/8 rubber hose makes a great poor mans stethoscope. (instructions put 1 end to ear other to source of noise)

I used a mechanics stethoscope last night with @Dudleyfj40. Nothing coming from the top end.

As for the comedians, I've never claimed to be an expert. I've always asked for opinions and expertise of the experts. Which doesn't include you.

Sounds like something is shifting and making contact with a moving part, fan shroud, radiator, etc?

That was my thought on the possibility of motor mounts. I know he said he has done them before on a another cruiser and could tell the difference, but was my first thought of something moving.
