Thanks for stopping in and doing up a thread @residualboulders ! You’ve got one of the most photogenic 4x vehicles in the world, and the fact you’re out using all the time (in the dirt/mud/snow) is inspiring. I loved it when it was green and silver, love it just as much (or possibly more?) now that it’s blue. @cruiserdan is right - you have the suspension and tire/wheel combo nailed! Looking forward to seeing more pics of this fitness-model 55 out exercising in its element 🍻

So great to see all these, thanks for taking the time.

One question, do you have a picture of the winch mount without the bumper covering it?

Cheers
I was trying to find one to post yesterday but did not. I know I took a photo of it. If I can find it I'll post it up.

@cruiserdan this is the AC unit inside the truck. Excuse the dust from fall exploring.

I have this paperwork. You may be correct that it was a dealer installed AC. It does not list AC on the window sticker, but I have a letter from the dealer to the original owner listing AC as an included option. This was in my paperwork.

Man, that winch was EXPENSIVE. $675 in 1979 equals $2,600 in 2022.

The quoted price of the truck adjusts to $32,800.00

Sticker, $38,400.00

By the way, the Monroney is the only way to prove if it has the original engine. Does it?

Yeah in comparison the cost of the vehicle it sure was. Although if the adjusted for today is $2600 that is actually a pretty good deal on an 8274 isn't it?

I wish my 200 was only $38,400! ha ha.

I don't have a Monroney sticker. Would be cool if I did. Maybe would be a bigger deal if I still had original floor mats, seats and original paint though huh? I mean, I don't have a completely original museum piece. Based on my experience with Landcruisers, most that have had engine work done seem to have all of the emissions stuff removed. This one is as complex as I've ever seen a 2F, ha ha. Vacuum lines all over the place.

I think the PO repainted the green and Gold in the 90's or early 2000 - I'm guessing. Seats looked really old, but those can't be factory. They were probably redone with paint and they just had old taste, ha ha.

Then how is it that you have it in your file?

The dealer discounted it a fair amount but he did sit on it for quite a while. The truck was built in March 1979 and the dealer letter is dated May 12 1980. That sat on the lot for a year.

Come to think of it a new 8274 is about the same ~2,700 bucks today.

But a Cruiser is over 90 grand.

oh I think I misunderstood what you were saying and asking there. I thought you meant the window sticker I had was not the Monroney. As far as I know it is the original motor. I had a stack of service records that I thought I could verify mileage with. But I went through those this morning and they are multiple copies of receipts from about 7 different visits over the last few years they owned the truck.

They had it in to have the tailgate switch looked at. Once to have tailgate adjusted and bolts tightened. Back for a new battery install. A few oil changes and an oil pan gasket replacement. Back again to have the window regulator replaced - which is probably why i found two regulators stuck to the window cranks with liquid nails. I can thank Kurt's automotive for ruining the regulators instead of just buying new plastic window cranks. New regulators weren't easy to find.

Monroney is the official name for the window sticker :)

You can see the engine number on it. There is a machined pad on the engine block just to the rear of the distributor mount. That's where the engine number is stamped.

Excuse my ignorance, ha ha. I see, you were telling me my engine number stamped on the motor should be 0353438. I'll check it out.

My guess is it will, based on the history of the truck. The cool part is you have the only way to positively prove it. That is extremely rare (along with the power steering) :)

For comparison purposes here is a factory A/C dash unit. This is a right hand drive vehicle so the temperature control wheel is to the right of the vents. Reverse that in your mind for left hand drive.
