Plastic gas cans, you can have them. No grief to plastic, just prefer metal too. Plus, it is period correct for your rig. It looks great, good job!

Started plugging away at the brakes:
I'm fairly impressed with how clean the locking hubs get with just some de-greaser and some elbow grease.
Just need new studs and some hardware and it's ready to go back together.

oooh.... That actually looks like a good little project in the spring for my new buzzbox! Bet it would get those things clean as all getup and give me a nice clean surface to paint the dials!

The wiring craziness has begun. Wiring is a love hate thing with me. I hate doing it, but I love the results because my OCD really takes over and I can't help but try to make it really clean. I cut into the stock harness this weekend and started laying out everything for the rear bumper. The things I'll be installing are:
Kaymar bumper multi-function lights - Running, Brake, Turn, Reverse
Kaymar license plate light - more on this later
Reverse camera - I already had one as a license plate frame, but that won't work anymore so I'm going to add a small one to the bumper somewhere.
Trailer Hook up - I have the powered unit that I'll run off the secondary battery in the back.
Rear Floods - I bought some Sylvania Cube-X lights a long time ago.
The last two items (trailer hookup and rear floods) will happen at a later date, but you'll see that I'm going to make things real easy for me in the future to hook up more stuff to the truck.
First things first: I want to be able to remove the bumper if I ever need to without cutting wires so I put some weatherpack harnesses on the Kaymar bumper lights.
Getting the passenger side turn signal was easy because the harness runs across the back of the truck. The driver's side isn't so easy. I actually took apart the factory harness at the connector for the rear taillight assembly and replaced the .25" tab female terminal with one I crimped the original signal plus another wire I added and pushed down under the truck.
Close enough
That bold yellow wire is the one I added
I don't have a lift or anything so I was working on the floor, and it was COLD last weekend. I should probably invest in some garage heat.

You're probably saying "Cool Neeko, but where the F are all these wires going?" Well, I bought a trailer junction box and bolted it to the cross member.
I'm really happy with how this is going to work out. There will be enough contacts to do all the stuff I want and still have some left over for other accessories.
There is a cover for it and grommets that help keep moisture out for the wire bundles that go in.

I mentioned that license plate light for the Kaymar bumper earlier. Well, I guess I forgot to order the license plate holder that you're supposed to use with it from Kaymar.
The light has studs on it that go through that sheetmetal tab. The holder they sell just uses those same studs and then you hang the plate from that. Oh well. Nothing a little time with the bandsaw and hand files won't fix.

I'll put the Kaymar bumper tab between the light and License Plate Guy to recess the plate back a little bit. Now on to more wiring.

Nice work, I especially enjoy the proper terminals and incorporation of aftermarket harness.
If you ever become super anal, a few 70s honda restoring sites have the yellow zinc terminals...I bought some when I was wiring my harley up so I could have spares for the truck.
