Rear lower control arm bracket protection

Are these going to require a weld as pictured above? Also, the first bracket looks like it bolts to the old mount and has an indent for the mounting bolt for the control arm/mount. How will yours mount? I would rather that the bolt pass through both the protection bracket and mount. This, with new and longer mounting hardware would ensure simple installation. A weld would up the complexity on these, but make them that much stronger.

Mine will use the bolt that holds the control link/arm. Can't use the other hole on the frame mount as it will not allow a bolt that would NOT interfere with the JJ.

Weld the sloped angle steel or drill and add self tapping bolts."

All,

As I told C, I will most likely make these where the frame tab can be welded OR drill and tap the frame. Either with 3/8" self tapping bolts or 3/8" button heads for the guys that decide to tap. When I make up the pieces I will have the laser shop cut 2 holes in the tab for that purpose for those that want it.

I recommend the welded route. After slamming on a bolt a few times it will come loose or shear off.

I'll try and get the rough design finished up tomorrow or Friday.

Can I get a consensus if you preffer:

A) weld on version
B) Bolt on version
C) Bolt or Weld on flexibility?

Maybe I'm not paying attention, but I didn't realize @reevesci was going to be the fabricator. From the looks of his other work, I'm sure these will be nice.

I would think that almost any solution would need to be welded to provide real protection and support for the bracket.

I'm in for whatever is produced.
