One of the Mud guys that has my brake lines sent me a link to the FJ Company website and wanted me to see what they're selling as fully restored. He specifically noted the brake lines on the firewall. I went through the gallery and found that the lines look exactly like they did before the restoration. Frankly, I'm shocked. I never would've guessed they would install such lines on a high priced truck. They should be embarrassed. Take a look:

On this rear axle line, where on earth is it headed going "over" the diff?

Look like my repairs on my rusty '79 40 snowplow rig. I dont care because mine will rust out again.

Alert!

Postage has gone crazy. I'm not sure what's going on but the boxes I ship have gone up even though I have the same size box and approximate weight. So, unfortunately, I'm forced to raise my shipping cost. I was charging a blanket $20 and that broke close to even for me. But now, every box I ship is well over the 20 bucks and it's biting me in the butt. So this is just to let you how the shipping is going up. Not the price of the lines.

What I have noticed is that the receipt shows a "guestimate" poundage. My box generally weighs about a pound. It now calls it 10 pounds. They say it's because of the size. Lousy excuse. So I'm not sure what it is other than it sucks.

Talked to @Rainman about what I needed in the morning, the package was in the mail by the afternoon. Looking forward to having these installed on my front axle. Thanks again!!

Great Design on the package.

Morning Rainy,

Hope your health is as well as a fine tuned cruiser.
Speaking of 60s, are you offering kits for these beasts?

Best regards,
Victor

Actually, yes. BUT! I just got the final patterns over the weekend but somehow, the front 12" of the chassis line pattern is missing. I make the first patterns out of welding wire. I used a small piece to try and copy the entanglement right there on the frame and somehow, the piece went missing between where I was and home. Is it possible that you aren't using the truck right now and could send me that section? I'll discount your kit for it.

And my health is hangin' in there. I get the first blood draw after treatments in two weeks.

Sure thing Rainy. I can pull it sometime this coming weekend.
Please PM me your address.

Rain-Man,
Hope all is well bud. I'll be ordering a set of lines soon.
Do members of the Zebranator Key Chain Owners Club get a discount?
Just kidding, glad to see you are still around. Now we need to locate Spanky.

I hate to even post this but everyone needs to be caught up. This not any form of complaining, just facts.
This past year or so, as with many of us, has been quite a challenge:
Radiation treatments for cancer.
Cruiser project put on hold due to an engine lock up.
A financial setback on my '32 Ford project.
Loss of my automotive mentor and best friend.
Back issue that laid me up for several weeks.
Daughter kicking out her (lousy) husband and needing my help around the house repairing and...
Neighbor getting a Cruiser for himself and the "self therapy" of helping him with it.
Time and effort in the process of trying to start a new business with a new partner. (More on that when it's more concrete.)
Hours that I should've spent on making lines but simply didn't have the drive or energy.

I'm not closing down Rainman's Brake Lines. In fact, I'm hoping to have help making them with the new business. I'm just behind. It's that simple. I can't keep asking some of you to wait, unless you want to. I can't give a time line of when I will have kits done, this pandemic just slows everything down in my world out here in the country.

Please accept my apologies to those of you who have been waiting for your lines. I'm truly sorry that I've been negligent at getting orders filled this year. I'll get through all this.

Update:

I finally have a full time job again. One that I do believe will stick this time. I'm the shop manager at an Auto/Overland shop in the outskirts of Nashville. Small business that's growing rapidly. We've got at least a dozen Toyotas in the lot or a bay. I'm hoping to bring more FJ40s here.

Brake lines... The owner loves the idea of having that ability in the growing biz. It's going to take some time since it takes up space. All the patterns need wall space and a long bench for bucks and the flaring tool. Anyway, I don't have a target date when the lines will ramp up but know that now I have nearly no time at all to make them, but the chance of making them again just went up!

So watch this space and I hope to have more news in the coming weeks.

Happy New Year. I will need some for my 74 FJ40. Running disc brakes up front and a later model MC. I would like to have the same brake line layout as around a 1978.

News flash! I wish this was good news for everyone waiting. It's not but it's a start.

I'm taking off 3 days the start of next week to make brake lines. I'm going to guess I won't get all the backorders done but I hope to put a dent in the list. I'm still at work and don't have the waiting list with me so I don't know who you are right now. I'll try to get all the orders organized over the weekend and start Monday morning on lines. I do have a couple of appointments to deal with but hey, I'm trying my best to help fellow buddies out that I've ignored for too long. Stock kits will have to come first since they don't take as long. Sorry guys. I'll try to get in touch with some and see if I can get info fast enough to include them this short time period.

Whew... It's been a long time coming. I just hope I can get a good number of kits out. I tried for a full week but I just couldn't do that to the shop. Whether it feels that way or not, I am needed around here.

Rainman having met you you are needed. They are lucky to have you!!!!!!!!

Well worth the wait - Rainey makes works of art. Those lines pay for themselves in the value they bring to your restoration. Even if Rainey charged double (and I keep telling him he should)....

Rainey, you need to get the FJ Company to buy lines from you. Reach out to them. Perhaps I can help you make the sets as I'm getting close to finishing my truck. Clearly the model years of trucks keeps growing. I wonder how long till FJ Cruiser owners start asking.

Excited!!!!!!

One and a half days down. Pumping out the lines today until the "oh s***" moment this morning. I'm about to run out of NiCopp. SO I had about 2 hours this afternoon of not being able to carry on with my record pace of making lines. The new line stock (over 200 feet worth) should be here before lunch. I'll crank right back up. The its that may not get don't by Wednesday afternoon because of this will hopefully get done this coming weekend. My goal was to get 9 kits out. That's really pushing it for 3 days work. I haven't figured out how to keep my quality up and speed things up at the same time. Patience is a virtue. I know...

Anyway, I'm pumped that I've been able to get some time to do these again. I know I can't get to everyone in this short time. Once again, I'm sorry about that. I hope to figure out a way to get rolling at some sort of system again. Maybe I'll ask for one day off a week. Maybe I end up making lines on Mondays... Not likely but I kinda like the idea.
