"Too much of everything is just enough..."

(Also, interesting taste in women, "I need a woman about twice my weight - a ton of fun, who packs a gun with all her other freight" Not judging...)

Any toying around for pig bumpers, low volume i bet but would be super cool with the mounds behind all this? That 60 bumper on BIO website is sweet!
You like that 60 bumper? That turned out quite well!!!

What are you thinking for Pig bumpers? More stock-ish? Or more like the 60 bumper turned out? Or both??

Bear with me here. I’m picturing myself looking through the Montgomery Ward catalog of bumpers a few weeks before Xmas to choose what I would like?? Maybe a couple options….

Actually, that swing out with option for spare and cooler would be great but as narrow as the pig is compared to the 60/62 the rear view would be close to nonexistent.

Take the spare out, swing out with cooler space and that grill space would be cool. Ton’s of variable’s and I only have 2 cups of coffee in me so far so thinking not so clear.

I love it!

Drink more coffee and we'll keep at it.

You fancied the Monkey Ward catalog? I always found the Sears catalog to be some enlightening content...

I’m going to have to do something like that 60 rear for this truck, but it’s on an 80 frame. Very low volume. 😀

But it should be adaptable to the pig frame. That 60 doesn’t have a crossmember so it’s custom too.

Undecided on a front bumper for this truck. I had an idea once, maybe I’ll develop that a bit further.

BIO does have a similar existing design for the 80 series

I’ve long wanted to do a stock replacement pig rear bumper that maintains the look of the OEM without the damage multipliers bolted to the ends.

I don’t think it will be too wide. 4x4labs got it done.

Issue really is blocking the tail/brake lights. Could just put those in the bumper.

There’s a 4x4 Labs 80 series bumper for sale local to us.

Or a 60 series ARB

I have one of these from 4X4 Labs for mine, rear bumper has been mounted ... this is SOLID
Cheers

Front bumper was the second mod I ever did, back in 1986. Piece of 4" channel bolted on, then notched, pounded into shape and welded. It's lasted this long and many coats of paint.
Rear bumper is one of IPORs first ever made, circa very early 2000s.

So. @Cruisers and Co chops 150mm

@gonzopancho So I know Deo's, Clays and my 55/80's all had 140mm out of the chassis as it pushes the front diff forward 10mm to help with clearance when running bigger tyres... just calling it out here in case you're interested.

That’s cool. Thanks.

I tried that on the fj142 (we cut 3.5” : 89mm out of the 80 frame, because the difference between the 80 wheelbase (2850 mm / 112.2”) and 62 wheelbase (2730 mm / 107.5”) is 120mm / 4.7”

So we left it 31mm / 1.2” “too long” which was even a bit too long for 37s (a bit later in the thread), and that’s the wife’s truck, so I had @samc2447 pick up the project and recut the frame, because she didn’t want it that tall.

This recentered the wheels for a lower lift. It’s still a bit high here, but it also is still pretty light, and in the first two pics is still had the Ironman 4” lift on it.

I have a different 55 body on 80 frame project and the frame there isn’t long enough. So that’s going to require another frame.

And I’d forgotten all that.

So, you’re right.

Thanks!

A friend who I’ve done some 100 series wheeling with owns Valley Tech Fabrication in Kansas. He has driven my pig and said he could make some original stock looking rear bumpers for the FJ55 but a lot more robust and not with the lame end caps. He said he would just need a handful or so of people to go in on an order.

this is something I was planning to do with @Bump It Offroad. FJ55 front and rear, 0.250" mild steel plate, optional lights, tow points, and provisions for an 8274, black or 'pewter'), but don't wait on me.

Semi-obviously I'll do the ones for the 80 frame with BIO as well. (You guys know I own it now, right?)

Only a casual conversation I had with VTFab so I say leave it with you and BIO as you know pigs…and a lot more!! Thanks.
