Looks like the rear bumper kissed the corner of the pass. side quarter panel (car wash picture). Did that happen on the water fall?
Maybe, idk. Wasn’t there at Where Eagles Dare (the pics of me standing with my son after lunch on the second day.) We ran down then back up the waterfall the first day (turned around just after because we had to make the vendor night.)

The PS front fender lip caught the tire at one point as well. The tire is fine, but I’ll need to address the edge that got pulled down when I get back from Texas in a couple weeks. You can kinda see it in the car wash pic, but it was there at Where Eagles Dare.

Took the pig out with the @Bump It Offroad crew to do some 80 rear bumper testing.

Met at the coffee shop in Rollinsville.

While there another pig (SOA, 4bt, angle iron sliders) “saw red and white, did a double take and turned around to talk.”

Turns out it’s @arthog and he’s the welder for @nakman. Explains the Gamavitti-style rack on his truck.

When we went to leave, my pig wouldn’t start, wouldn’t even click. Looked it over, spotted the problem. I have no idea how this didn’t catch the truck on fire.

Got a ride to Nederland, bought a few parts. “Trail fix”.

Still doesn’t charge right. I suspect it took the voltage regulator out on the alternator.

Tried the trail but didn’t want to have to tow it back out and home. Decided to bail and drive the 60 miles back to the house.

(Hey man, I didn’t wire it…)

Didn’t know you could make a “fusable link” out of 6 AWG, and IIRC 6 AWG will carry 120A in air over short distances. Note the 150A circuit breaker hadn’t tripped.

The new crimps aren’t the best but it’s what we could do with a hammer and chisel. I’ve since rotated that one lug away from the ground on the fender.

What was drawing that much current???
I don’t know. The working theory is that the battery tray is moving some, and the first version of that wire was shorter snd stiffer, with the result that maybe it broke wires until there wasn’t enough left to carry the load, then it burned.

Wow that wire was so frayed/trashed!! Happened in a short time ie not many miles either. Crazy.

Would a large buss bar be better to get that bundle off the battery terminals? I am thinking marine stuff here.
Been noticing a pattern. Something about Landcruiser “builders” and stacking 50 hot wires on a battery terminal must be a thing.
