YAAA MUTHA ***KA!!!!

It finally started. . Kicked my ass for two weekends though. 99% user error (me) 🙄

I forgot to attach grounds, forgot to reconnect things, took wires apart, cutting and splicing 🤦🏾‍♂️. Had to study "I do cars" from YouTube last night then it all clicked. . .****ing fuel.

After all hooked up, still no fuel. It came down to having to add fuel to the tank to build up enough pressure to the rail and injectors. Fuel started spraying out the fittings, but that's another story 😅

Bit of a long weekend so had to take advantage.

Friday: Drove up to VA and picked up some Slee 6" front control arms and Slee 4" spring.

Saturday: Cleaned up some wiring in the engine bay; looked for a place to mount the PCM, and fuse box (I'm leaning towards inside of the glove box); and added a grab bar above the glove box.

Sunday: Mocked up the 4WD shifter bracket (had to move it forward due to new transmission placement); and mocked up the back wall of the chopped 80.

Monday: Cleaned off surface rust and painted the roll bar and back wall frame; and drew the back wall templates on sheet metal.

Rearranged to use as many straight edges as possible.

Another weekend of trying to maximize on the good weather outside. @cruisermatt recently added a DBW delete plate for the 80 series LS swap.

Then cut out all the peices for the back wall. Initially wanted/tried to use an electric metal shears cutter, but found it a lot easier to use an angle grinder.

Also some time back @thatcabledude told me to cut down the front post on the intake so I'll be able to put the cover on and close the hood.

So I finally got the courage to do so.

I cut 1/2 off, heated up the brass fitting, and reinsert. Also trimmed the cover around the alternator and the IAC sensor (I believe that's what it is).

Went to close to hood to see how everything fits. . . It closed, but didn't want to open 😤🤬🤦🏾‍♂️. The hood latch froze up. Messed around unfucking that for an hr.

Should of took the before picture, but mentioned earlier that I picked up some Slee radius arms about a week or two ago. They had a little bit of surface rust but while playing hooky from work I sanded down the rust area and hit them with some 2K epoxy primer.

I don't know which black paint I want to use 🤔. Currently looking at Eastwood's chassis extreme high gloss black paint.

Another long weekend to help progress and spend a bunch of money. Took advantage of the Black Friday sales and purchased Rampt Customs front axle truss, HellFire knuckles, and @cruiseroutfit reduction gears.

Also. . Tac'ed the wall on the UTE 😍

Looking good, cant wait to see the final product.

Been gone for a few weeks, but I'm back now. About a yr ago I promised @roflbox he'll have first dibs on my steelies if he help with my lip, so wanted to get him the wheels before the New Year. Though the LC is no where near driving ready, I swapped out the steelies with Method 305 Titaniums. Also mocked up the snorkel to ensure fitment.

Additionally, I started messing around with the shifter and linkage. Notched in the 5th position on the shifter to be able to go into 1st gear; installed the DD GSS-3000 (for the dash to read what gear I'm in); messed around with the shift linkage.

Lastly I cleaned up the wires in the engine bay from the electrical fan; and tired my best to hide the wiring, PCM, and both Dakote Digital interfaces. The PCM is in the glove box 🙄.

Messed around today making some paper templates of little things that need to be welded, and finally got the nerve to do some cutting on the hood. I copied @audi2nr with the hood vents he did on his turbo'd 80. I'm not really looking for heat reduction, but I really liked the look.

Whoops, I was assuming you were someone else local to me who wanted to do this. Ugh, just got off work and I'm tired.... shipping this wouldn't be easy.
Thanks for the initial offer. Where did you buy it from?

It's a perforated aluminum sheet from metal supermarkets. I was going to order a large sheet but lucky they had a remnant of a sheet that was cut so I got it cheap. I believe it's .94 diameter holes and like an 1/8 inch or less thick.

Swapped the hood out and added quick release hood latches.

Why does everything with the 80 takes longer than planned? Added the quick release hood latches because one day I closed the hood and the latch didn't open. Had to go under the LC and unbolt the hood latch 🤬. Never again.

Bought these hood latches:

Not a difficult install, but it's always a bit scary drilling and cutting into the hood.

I have a few other things planned for the weekend, but not worth taking pictures of.
