Bro, congrats on getting there in one piece. It’s a tough flight(s). I wondered how you’d fare with the compulsory inspections…I’m eager to hear how fit goes. Let’s see some pics!!!Little bit of an update. Im here in Japan now. Got a little apartment that my father-in-law gave us till our house is built. Submitted my VISA application yesterday and all the paperwork looked good, so i should have it in a few weeks
Tried to park the LC in the back parking area of the apartments, but the entrance was too tight, so I had to park it back at my brother-in-law's house (no worries because we will be building our house right next door).
I havent got all the details yet, but its going to be a PIA to get the LC registered, mainly due to the engine swap. To my understanding, they are going to need a specialist to certify it. . more to follow. Also once it gets registered, my yearly tax will be expensive due to the engine size being a 6.0 (here smaller is better). Ill update when I get more details.
Last we talked you had a few possible avenues to get it registered in Japan. Did all of them fall through? So it's been a long time with no post. . .but I still been lurking. I been back and forth from Japan to the States for work, and decided I going to the the LC back to the States to sell. Already started the official paperwork for the shipment, and it's going to be roughly the same price to send it back. I have an ad up in the classifieds for when I was selling it a few months back. (Some hater on the ad was crying about teriffs. . .it looks like i dont have to pay any (plus other exemptions since it originated in the US, and has been in Japan for less that a yr). Anyway, I'll update the ad when it arrives back in the US (hopefully by February). I'll be sending it back to NC.

Yeah, but it still possible to register. It just cost way more than it's worth. Since it's the "first of it's kind" here, they have to go through all the widgets as if they are manufacturing a new carLast we talked you had a few possible avenues to get it registered in Japan. Retirement is good. Mostly been chilling. Started scuba diving, and going to Japanese class.Hey Darren, how’s retired life treating you? Sorry to hear about the cruiser, hope you get top dollar for it.
Sorry to hear about the complications. I have plenty of room for storing vehicles and I'm happy to assist with selling it out of Raleigh, if that would be helpful. So it's been a long time with no post. . .but I still been lurking. Awesome sauce. Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. I've already secured a spot at Trey's, but Raleigh might be more convenient for selling.Sorry to hear about the complications. I have plenty of room for storing vehicles and I'm happy to assist with selling it out of Raleigh, if that would be helpful.
I think if it get another LC, it'll be a 70 series. Currently, ppl (mostly Americans with clapped out LCs) are asking crazy prices on stock'ish truck.Yeah, bummer. Are you going to get a RHD 80?
Oh man. I can’t wait to see it. Before I left Oki, I linked up with some expats who were driving a desert tan 70 series. That thing was incredible.I think if it get another LC, it'll be a 70 series. Currently, ppl (mostly Americans with clapped out LCs) are asking crazy prices on stock'ish truck.
