Where, or who did you order your new pitman arm from? The TRE on mine is shot and I figured while I have everything apart for the restoration I might as well replace.

Oh BTW, I’ll be up in your neck of the woods the end of Jan for recurrent simulators. I’d like to see Pikachu in person...

Where, on Earth, were those two in the same place?

Hey Garth, Nolen made a quick pass through town to pick up this beauty: Goat. A 1967 survivor FJ-45 LWB

I looked around and found a vendor on Ebay (fj_parts) with good reviews. He sold both the pitman arm and drag link end together for $ 95 shipped.

Sounds great! Give me a shout when you head this way.

Brand new pitman arm and drag link end are installed. I am super impressed with the quality. I'm unfamiliar with the brand, but both are Joint Fuji and are made in Japan. I greased 'em up and stuck 'em in.

That worn out connection was it. The last loose part of my steering. Boom.

I took inspiration from your pitman arm and ordered a new one myself. Now I have to find a new drag link because the PO welded the TRE to the end of the one installed. I’m starting to not like him much... What length is yours?

I can help with both :)

Yes, talk to Kurt. He can get you fixed up.

My tie rods were in decent shape and had good threads, so I just worked with what I had and replaced the ends. I am pretty sure that they are stock/original lengths.

I fell in love with a thread a while back titled "Saving the Old Rustbucket", which mentioned a place called Herd's Hamburgers early in the tale. This is an old school, cash-only, dumpy and fantastic burger joint in Jacksboro, TX. I made it a point to stop by with my son and have lunch today. Well worth it. We also covered miles of the same pavement that The Turtle once slid down. This story by @Sea Knight is fantastic if you are unfamiliar:

225-mile round trip to the hunting lease today, with Herd's being conveniently on the way. The 40 ran beautifully. Pikachu is daily driver material now.

Carson, next time you are passing through, text me and I will meet you at Herd's. Jacksboro is only 40 miles from my place.

I went on a drive many years ago in the 77 with my wife and my two (at that time) kids. Four buddies on their Harley's and us in the 40.

Straight to Jacksborough for a Herds Burger. I should have taken a picture of it and started a See and Eat Texas blog...

That’s a fantastic idea for a 40 thread! It would have to have some wrenching info as well to maintain its status in this forum though.

Had a few things on my to-do list this weekend, one of which was to install the Racer65 door weatherstripping. This process was not fun at all, but turned out well. Great product.

Also gave me some time to drive without doors, which is always a hoot.

It was such a gorgeous day that I also ran the other 40s around town, and took a few minutes to take a pic of the family together. I put 60 miles on the white '76 while taking my wife to a couple of consignment shops. Luckily, the old sofa that she settled on wouldn't fit in a 40, so I had a perfect excuse not to buy something that we didn't need anyway. She felt like it was by design. Maybe.

Totally awesome rig...you’ve done a helluva job on it. Have a couple q’s as I’m due for both a softtop and tires. I may have missed it, but what bows do you have? I’ve got a 79 so have the newer doors, but still don’t fully grasp what exactly that means for mods for the real steel bows...would really love to be able to just slap something on if possible.

Also, I currently have the 32x9.5 TSLs and love them...having had the 34 TSL and the 33 SX (on the 47 looks like?) what are your thoughts, any particular preference? I’m pretty torn between the 3
