Gene's House

After breakfast we were back on track. We made it to Gene's without any problems. He was waiting in the street when we came around the corner. It was awsome to say the least. After rolling the LV off we got a chance to hang out and relax. Thanks Gene for the cigars. !!! I wish we could have stayed longer but we had a time frame :) For anyone who has not met Gene let me say this When we rolled up and got out of the truck the first thing we got was a hand shake that made you feel like you were part of something very special. This trip was a great and something I will remember for a lifetime. Total time on the road from my driveway to Vegas to Gene's back to my driveway 16 hours 10 min.

LCJ You gonna have that thing painted and ready for the all the parts before the major wrenching weekend ?

There's so much work to do on it, that the plan is to have it ready from the dash forward. Hoping to have paint on the dash, firewall, and frame, and have the front section of body primed. Gotta pull the wiring out and try to get the back quarter panels fixed. Gonna need some real help with that since I don't weld. Not sure how much else I can get done after that since I've only got 3 weeks to work.

So is that your dad in your avatar Gene? (Now that I've seen a pic of you...) :D

No, my dad is a much better looking guy than that. It's a pic of a WWII USMC pilot I found on the net. He kind of looks like a cross between myself and Kramer from Seinfeld. Scary thing is, the pilot is even better looking than me. Small children cry :crybaby: and run when they see me. :D

must be your 'telephone-tough-guy" image that sends em running! LOL

The fro is under the flight cap. :D

Don't laugh. I spent a week as probably the only airline captain on earth with a mohawk. My hat hid it nicely. I didn't even get in trouble for it!

Looks like a great foundation there Gene. Can't wait to see it in person ;)

Nobody told me Gene was bald. I want my $$$$ back!

Wish I lived on the Left Coast so I could be a part of the upcoming fun. I'll be watching this thread. Definitely the best thing on MUD!!!!!!!

Wait a minute, I'm not bald, my hair's 1/8" long! :D You had my wife and I busting up with that one.

This is one of the best threads to check on....funny how these avatars give you ideas...I too assumed that was your Dad or relative (That guy Wob is another example of probable mistaken avatar presumption). I digress.....good luck on your project weekend....a real treat to see such commradrie (sic?) on this great project!!!

Okay gentlemen, the LV's been sitting in my driveway for 10 days now and I haven't been able to do a thing to it because of prior commitments. Tomorrow I start pulling parts. I figure a couple days of dismantling and cleaning it up, and then a whole lot of sanding, wire wheeling, priming and painting. Gonna try to get it ready from the front seat forward for the work party. Progress pics soon to come. Starting here first...
