Gene, your description and Eric's match EXACTLY. IIRC, he said that you would have what you needed to finish this LV in your old one and now we can see that he was right.

ERIC, THIS IS WAY COOL!!!!

On behalf of myself and everyone else involved in this project I want to publicly thank you for your enormous generosity.

We will do our best to match your spirit.:)

Yeah Mark, that's exactly what he said. Even though my driverside took a pretty hard hit, somehow the rear area stayed intact enough in just the right places. Still can't believe what great shape the floors are in. Now if I drop my keys, I won't have to depend on the carpeting to keep them from ending up in the street.

"I just love it when a plan comes together" Anxious to see it up and runnning Gene around :steer: with a big smile on his face :):bounce::bounce2::clap:. I am going to try to make it to the build, but don't know if I can.
Thanks for the recognition Mark, I hope it serves Gene and his family well.
Hey Gene, do you have any 8 tracks to use in the player mounted to the glove box.............................I hear they are the latest in portable listening ( :doh:1960's!) no skipping or scratches to hear like in records (LARGE round analog music discs) .....................Shame that wasn't a factory option on this Cruiser:crybaby:.
I think that the possibility of rewiring should be explored. Maybe a Painless kit or other. The wiring may be serviceable temporarily to get it up and running, but should be replaced. Especially since Gene will be driving this a long long time. Don't want to get it in the "shorts" and have a fire or other issues. The fuse block has seen better days etc.

Wiring Harness

BTW, nice meeting you Eric!!! Thanks for the show!

Glad to hear it's on the road! If I would have realized when it would be passing through, I could have driven out to I-70 from Moab to check it out. Oh well....

Wiring: sounds like a good idea to me. I'll certainly volunteer to bring my wiring tools with me. I can even teach people to do the western union splice being discussed in the 40 tech section. :)

Eric, we are all on the same page here. Gene's harness was a little problematic, but Kurt over at SOR had JUST given the harness the once over like ONE WEEK before the accident. So I had already suggested to Gene that we should put his old wiring harness in whatever donor rig we could come up with.

Should I take this to mean that you don't want the old one back?:p

Seriously though, even from the pics it looks like we've got more than we need to get this thing going. Would you like to have any of the leftover parts back for your other LVs? [not hard to imagine a YES answer here]:hhmm:

You and I should talk.:)

I spoke wth Marv today and what Kurt actually did was just replace two sections that had shorted out, he didn't go through the whole harness. I've had the EZ Wiring page saved in my favorites for a while now. It seems like a good time to do it, but like you said Mark, I think there's enough work to do already.

Rob, let's talk Thursday and cover all of the details for Friday.

Ping me if you guys need junk from mudmonster.... yes this is my way of tagging along on this thread.

That's right bro! Rob & Rob made great time today. Called me at 8:00am and told me they were leaving Vegas, and drove up to my house about 12:40. Left a couple hours later and were home around 4:00-4:30.

My many thanks again to Eric, Mace, Rob, and Rob. Just 41 days after my crash and there's another LV in my driveway. All of you here on MUD are awesome.

The tease is, I can't get started working on it 'til after Father's day because of other commitments.

Huge plus. . . roof is in great shape. No rot anywhere on roof. Every bit of rust is on the surface. This goes for the inside at the roof line too. My first LV had rot issues in both places.

Cigars for the long drive home. That tall handsome guy with the full head of hair on the left is me, Rob (calstyl2) is center, and Rob (Landcrusher909) on the right. It was great meeting both of you guys and spending a couple good hours together.

Check out the chrome on these handles... That's not rust on the chrome, but the reflection of the rust on the door.
