THe old/barely existing deck was way too small and kinda dangerous...a total redo was in order. I drew up the plans, pulled permits and started building. I'm very pleased how it came out...this was my first solo deck build.

Looking good man! Keep up the good work and call if you need/want some help. Gotta save some elbow grease for that 40 ya know.

Holy cow man! I'll have to pick your brain about the permitting process (assuming you're still in Durham) because I've got to rebuild my deck as well.

Looks awesome!

Sure thing...it's fairly simple just takes a couple weeks for the application to make its way through all the red tape.

Thanks for the compliments!!

Spread so-mo mulch last night after work...so close but looks like I'll need a few more yards to finish.

What are you going to do with the space you reclaimed from halving the front driveway? Just grass or something more grandeur?

Grass and mulch. I will be adding a contrasting mulch for a path to use when taking trash to the street. In the fall we will be adding shrubs/trees. I'm also going to rip out the old wooden beds up next to the house and rework/replace with stone...

fan-freakin-tastic. Looks awesome. Congrats.

ps - I have left a couple a vm about your carb. Still have it and can swing it by anytime. Maybe the 4 of us can meet for a drink or dinner or something.

No worries...truck is still tucked away in storage. I'll be around the next couple weeks so we should all get together.

Unbelievable man. I need to hire you to do my yard next!

I'll let you spread mulch at my house anyday! :)

What, what...time to dust off this thread:bounce:.

Started working on finishing the roll cage. Got the front section tied to the frame. I'll finish welding after pulling the tub.

Plan to start on the rear section tomorrow evening. I did discover this 40 has a newer tub from the firewall back. I don't think the original tubs for 1970 had the supports in the rear wheel wells and this one does. Wish it didn't as I'll have to cut / remove these before bolting the underside frame tie in plate.

Sorry for the crappy iPhone pics.

Those who have tied the rear section of a cage to the frame, have you tied to the b or c pillar (e.g. In front or behind the rear tire)?

I understand the tire will move slightly rearward as it travels upward into the wheel well, but it seemed really tight to go in front of the rear tire...
:meh:

One from someone on Mud...don't think my rear wheel sits this far back with 55 springs.

I mount them forward on the B pillar. It is a tight fit but you can also play with the angles and get it far enough forward to work out.
