Please sanity check my wheel choice

From the shipping sheet:
Stock Number was 78-7760 Raw Spoke 6x5.5 BS3125.
Looks like a special charge for custom backspace.
Purchased through ATECH MOTORSPORT in Akron , OH.
Can't remember any more pertinent details.

This MIGHT be a 3.250 backspace (1/8" less than what I run)

Also, look this over.

Lose the snap on weights and use stick on, they just clear the caliper. I like having the steering arms so close to the rim it would wear the boots thru but I knew right away when a steering arm was loose, you could hear it and feel it in the wheel.

Not sure on your exact goal, but don't discount 17s if you want the tires to sit in, as it clears the TRE and caliper better even with deeper backspacing. It does open up a different tire selection as well, although you'd want to check on pricing.

I don't run the steelies, but a similar setup in alloy...I think a few here have run these though:

@zerotreedelta ..would those fit a 40 w/o spacers? I definitely want to have tire size options and increase clearance for calipers and TRE's. I don't want to run spacers, and would like something that I can order a single replacement if needed.

I don't believe they need spacers, but I haven't run them specifically. Others have though, and their pics with the 285/75/17 is prob close to your 33x10.5:

My alloys are 17x8s with 4.5 backspacing for reference - no spacers, clears the TRE and calipers and doesn't rub the spring at full lock.

Not my rig / copied the pic forward from the other thread for those that don't feel like clicking the link. 😆

I ended up going back to the FJ company right before their black friday sale ended and buying a set. I just got them mounted, but with how over lifted my rig is, they look pretty weird on there. I need to put a sane amount of lift on it and get rid of the body lift. I did purchase a single FJcruiser steel wheel and gave it a shot and I would have needed a spacer which I dont want to do.

Pictures? What tires did you go with?

Pictures are here:

I went with 235/85/16 BFGAT'S after the tire guy talked me out of 255/85/16 on a 6"wide wheel. Not sure if I will regret that or if it's such a small change it doesn't matter. Rig handles a lot better but looks weird up front. The FJCO wheels are beautiful though

Technically you shouldn't put a 255/85/16 on a 6" rim but plenty do it. I run this size on my OEM 70 series rims on my Troopy. It looks and rides fine.

Agree, everywhere I look/call/ask I get the same answer. I could probably find a mom and pop shop to do it, but I'm going to pull my body lift out and see what it looks like then. I saw so many rigs here with the 255 combo I didn't think there was anything to be worried about

They refused 255 and initially pushed back at 235 ( but did it anyways). I'm guessing I will have to take my wheels and tires off and go back there and demount them to return them. Then go buy what I want and find another place to mount everything up

In my case they didn't check any specs. It may have helped that I brought both my tires and my rims to them for mounting, so they didn't look them up in the computer or anything.

Some people run those 235s and are fine with them.

But if you really want the 255/85/16 I'm sure you can find someone to mount and balance that won't bother to check that min rim width.

There is a limited selection of all terrains in this size in the US. Plenty of MTs though. Just something else to consider.
