That is incredible.... I hope to see this thing on the trail sometime! Trail footage will rule

(trying to figure out what rig I have that can go on the same trails as this beast:D)

Yeah, a friend of mine called it the "Mad Max Mobile" :D Not really any updates on it yet worthy of posting pics. I've been runnin brake lines, gathering all my brake parts, new wheel bearing/ studs, cleaning/ painting whel hubs, installing rear wheel spacers & mounting ARB compressor, etc. Should be ordering stainless tube this week. Stay tuned.... :pig:

First time I check on this thread in a few months and its awesome to see the progress. That thing is going to be ridiculous.

very nice, had a significantly different image in my head from the "avalanche" style in the title and all the close up shots of the work, mad max was the first thing that came to mind for me as well. Just cant picture Tina Turner driving it

Runnin Brake Lines & Stuff...

I finished up all the hubs/ wheel studs/ wheel bearings, got my spacers on the rear & have the lines done on both axles. I just have to add a few intermediate brake line tabs, then tighten 'em up. Next, I'll run the lines from the master & plumb in the prop. valve for the rear disks. Still tryin to figure out the exhaust :hhmm: Looks like I'll hafta run it just like in my 40 - muffler in the center & long twisty tailpipe :meh:

Yeah, that was the biggest unplanned detour due to lack of body skillz & patience w/ sheet metal. Other than that, I really haven't strayed away from the original concept. I'm :bounce: w/ the overall project so far. I bet I'm 75% done. Now I have all the little things to wrap up, many trips to the part stores & quite a few items to get online. About all of the major fabwork is done, except for the hydro-assist mounts & getting the front axle shafts measured, inner seals installed & order the shafts. Thank doods for all the positive words

<EDIT> forgot about the doors, so I'll knock it back down to 70% done

Brake Master Plumbed

now where do you mount the flamethrower? Bad ass Hamma!

 Closest I have to that is the on board welder which I still hafta find a place for, prolly under the hood :D

I have all the brake lines run now. I'll need to bench bleed the master later. Next, I'll hook up the gas tank inlet & use a "T" to connect the rear diff breather to the small vent that's inline w/ the gas filler tube. Pics later to explain.....

Gotta Finish These Doors

Okay, I ordered my stiker/ latch plates for the Bearclaw latches & they arrived today. I really didn't want to get back on these but it has to be done :meh: What has me :hhmm: is the bottom door hinges. Looks like they are assembled wrong or  Can someone verify if I have things screwed up? Shown are the driver side doors. They are in the open config. but when I close them, they are not perpendicular to the door "L" shaped. This has me :bang:

First pic is the bottom hinges in the closed config. - see how they hit the door. Seems like I need more travel to close completely  Pic #2 is the top hinges shown in the closed config. I know the tops are correct.

Thanks for the pic DesertLake. I didn't think I could mess it up, but  yes I can! Now I see what happens when I don't take a pic BEFORE teardown

In the meantime, I've ordered a 2" O.D. 180* prebent stainless tube & have pieced together my gas tank filler tube. Just hafta weld it up & add my rollover/ vent valve w/ it's connecting tube. All I need to do for the tank is connect 2 vent lines into the rollover valve line & it's done ;p

Gas Tank Filler Tube

All done :bounce: It sorta looks straight, but it has a tight compound bend in the middle. I had a stainless nut handy so I drilled & tapped it for NPT threads. I have some leftover flex-line to make the connection @ the tank & the inlet. I originally tried to make the bend but the flex-line crimped too much. Also decided to plug up the 2 vent lines coming off the tank. I think the rollover vent is good enough :meh:

Front Valance Panels Modded

Decided to bypass the doors today ;p Instead, I picked up the valance panel & started on the mounts for it. Since I wanted the winch as far back as possible, it cut into the grill & valance panel. So I cut it up & fabbed the brackets to affix them to the front body crossmember. Still have some minor trimming to do. Also made some raised mounts on the bumper for my aux. lights.
