Actually I have a motor coming to get the pig moving on it's own power then I'm going to start working on that motor I already have a cam and have a crank coming soon. Then tear it apart and send it to be dipped then rebuild it. So yes that's the plan.

3 Outta 4 Ain't Bad:

Well, I finished these up, but I did have problems getting the bolt outta the 3rd knuckle :bang: Got it all fit up, welded, & couldn't budge it w/ an impact or long breaker bar. You can see where I had to plasma the bolt head off the bottom & do the same to the top  I'll fix this one then jump on the high steer arm, then pitman. Hope to have better luck on those....

Knuckle Repair

I fishmouthed the knuckle top to get more weld area than just a simple straight butt weld. Just gotta trim it to fit w/ chamfered edges to hold the weld beads. It gets welded on the bottom too.

no way man! my 55 is a street queen....i would like to drive it up to dallas sometime and check yours out, i can count on one hand how many fj55's i've seen here in Ga, it's pretty cool that there's another one so close..... i DO wish that i had had a junker 55 to build into a crawler instead of slowly but surely sacrificing my 40 to the rock gods

WHy have you done 4? Is there something your not telling us?:p

 Could they be for a rear steer axle? :hhmm: Naw, I gotta have spares... Can't be too prepared for knuckle/ stud failure w/ added hydro-assist

Got a little grinder happy w/ the repaired one  It's the one on the right, BTW ;p

 fawesome  which follows along the "Simplefab" theme my garage is known for. :hhmm: I do have a mtn. bike I could hook up. I'll hafta swap out the gel seat tho.... This would be perfect for all the buffing/ polishing you're doin on your new "build" ;p

Chuck can you tell me this. All this metal you have been fabbing up. What are your tools of choice?

I posted all my tools earlier in the thread, but I'll save you some searchin time:
Air Compressor - 2 stage Speedaire
Welder - Lincoln 255 mig
Plasma - Lincoln Procut55
Other power tools are a mix of Makita, Milwaukee, & Craftsman
Handtools are all Craftsman
Tube bender - JD2
Bench grinder - Delta
Drill press/ Band saw & Bench sander are Craftsman but I don't use them cuz they're too light duty.
20 ton floor press

This is one of the most amazing projects I have ever seen.

Domo origato dude! :D I know this has taken a long time to build - custom just about everything, but next build, I'll design w/ prefabbed brackets & such where I can to save time......... and weight :pig:

I'd have my teeth chromed before anything on this :pig: gets it :grinpimp:

I have a perfect set of oem Toyota fogs and a pull type LC fog switch for the beast.

I have it here in the "Marketplace" now: https://forum.ih8mud.com/merchandis...c-stock-fog-switch-oem-toyota-fog-lights.html

These are just some items I have from here in Japan.

This project or should I say masterpiece should go in that Toyota 4x4 Mag that I love to read.

These are still :smokin: hot. Now, it's onto the steering linkage. Gonna head on over to Mild To Wild 4x4 & pick up some hdwe. Sat. to assemble it all - inserts, rod ends, mis-alignment spacers, etc. I already have the DOM tube so it won't be too spendy.

New Hubs Just In:

Originally, I was going to run 35 spline drive flanges on external wheel hubs, but seeing as I needed a weak link in the front axle, I decided on 30 spline locking hubs. I'll need to drive on the road to the trails & experiencing drive flanges on my 40 & how slow my rig was - everybody was :smokin: me to the trails. I've never had a problem w/ my Superwinch hubs on my 40, so I picked up some used D60 locking hubs on Ebay. Didn't realize one had a broken inner locking mech  So, I called up Superwinch & asked to purchase that broken part. To my suprise, they said "send 'em back & we'll get you a new set" :bounce: No questions asked  to Superwinch! I have everything else to assemble the front outers, so as soon as I mount up my tires, I'll roll it out for the pics. BTW, the steering linkages are done & cooling off right now.
