Cycled the steering & no interference. Still need to get the right length 3/4" bolts. Next, I'll slap on the hubs, then mount my H1 wheels to my 37" SSR's.......

Yeah, I'm grinnin from ear to ear on that passenger side knuckle beef
Some quick measurements on WMS:
Front sits at 62", rear is 60" including the 2" wheel spacers I haven't installed yet.
Temporary wheel hubs are on & I got the cut down mag inserts all cleaned up & ready to install. I'll groove the Swampers prolly the same simple pattern I did on the 40 this week. It should roll out next weekend

Hey did you ever get a coat of paint put on the doors. I was curious how they ended up looking. BTW great work on everything at least no one can say you didn't do it all yourself. Looks great. Can't wait to hear about the first trip it gets to go on.

I haven't finished the doors yet
I still need to get the striker plates for the Bearclaw latches & figure out how to latch the doors. I can forsee that being a time cousuming PITA, that's why I put it aside so I could concentrate on getting this 
rollin again. It hasn't moved from this space for prolly ~8 years 
I'm almost done w/ grooving the tires, so you should see my pattern later today.

I originally wanted to try some expedition style wheelin, so I thought that would be the perfect tire choice at the time for both on/ off road travels. After spending some time on the Exp. Forum, I realized what I had started building up did not fall into the lines of that style of wheelin. Although, I was fabbin up a roof rack, rear storage area, carrying all spare parts & tools, etc., I was not keeping my drivetrain simple, nor easy to source off the shelf parts for
So, I guess you could say it's sort of a blend of both styles, but leans toward being more of a crawler. If keeping a stockish, or any other kind of LC that way, I want NO part of that, so I guess I'll stick to TLCA events or other off road parks for short travels.

Got My Groove Awn:
Transforming expedition tires to crawler tires
wasn't easy. I'll need to add tire grooving to the 
list. This set is the 4th group I've carved up, all using an Ideal tire groover. I completed the 1st one while the tire was cool Then, I decided to let the others heat up outside all day & finish them up when I got home from work, which was sooo much easier.

Got the 1st one mounted, easy one
job. Install both mag runflats inside tire seperately, bolt together inside, lay tire over wheel, insert "O" ring between both wheel halves, set smaller wheel half over & tighten in a criss-cross pattern until fully seated. I bought the mag runflats already cut down by the P.O. Next shots will be outside in the driveway

Well, as a kid I've always wanted a CS, but since they were too much $$$ at the time, I had to settle for a 2002 
I finally was able, monetarily, to find a CS that I could build into my dream car I've had this sitting here for 3+ yrs. Actually my dream car is the mid 70's race version of this. I have a few plans in store such as an acquired '91 M5 engine, 16" Alpinas, many fiberglass body pieces, but no 5 spd. tranny yet. I'm thinkin I can slide it in, move the '73 40 & to storage & have 2 builds goin on at the same time - my '78 40 & this CS. Already have sketches worked up on the next 40 project
Back on track to this I've been running brake lines & other plumbing & will start on the stainless exhaust very soon.....;p
