WOW, that is a lot of work for sure.

Nice job friend

Thanks for the support Jim! ;p

These doors are the last major hurdle to jump. Boxing out the insides of the door shells will be :bang: cuz I've noticed some warping in the sheetmetal. I also have to cut access panels in each opening. I think I may hafta fab up some inner frames to keep the sheetmetal straight, dunno yet..... :pig:

Hey haven't visited your page in a while. I have to say that you are crazy creative. Looks great I can't wait to see the finished product. Have you decided what you want to do with the final paint?

Thanks Binks! Fabbin to make it my own creation is what it's all about :bounce2: Got that motor runnin yet? The paint scheme will be grey top/ hood & top part of the doors & fenders - green mostly fenders & middle doors & black at the base of the doors.

Front striker plates are burned in. I had to clearance a little behind the plate & barely into the B pillar. Rears are tacked in so I'll show that finished next....

I'm interested in seeing the paint finished.

Rear Strikers Burned In:

Looks great Chuck.

Thanks Mark! I'd post up on your build thread, but since you're in the middle of wiring, I couldn't help 'ya out there  Looks like you're still trying to piece wiring together from that extra :pig: Good luck on that ;p It was nice to finally meet you, visit your shop & check out you're hoard of Cruzahs :bounce:

All done w/ these! Now comes the painstaking part of boxing the inner door shells. This is gonna be :bang:

Started Boxing In The Rear Doors

Since I don't need to cut any access panels in these, I figured I'd build up some confidence knocking out the rears first. Dripping the weld puddle down is the key to not burning through the sheetmetal on the corners. Small weld stitches were done in order to make sure the panels didn't warp :D

Front Doors:

About done here. The last item on the list is to modify the stock door panels. You can see the access panel, near the handle, on the inside of the door. Hope I can get to the innermost door handle hole, may need to get the :princess: neighbor w/ small hands to help :hhmm:

The doors look good. So is the overall plan to leave the doors open like they are now or did I miss something earlier?

I did have a few different designs w/ tube but that may get too busy lookin. Maybe 2 simple horiz. bars wouldn't look too bad :hhmm: I'm listenin to any  ya'll have........

Not sure. My first though was expanded metal framed into the middle of the door but that may be too busy as well. But it would offer good protection and you'd still have the look of it being open and have the air flow.

Are those cup holders in the doors? How many cup holders does your Avalanche have? Bet not as many as my wife's mini van :)

I have a total of 4 - 2 for the junkyard Ford Exploder front console & 1 each for the rear passengers :bounce: BTW, those are some trick brackets you're makin for the brakelines on the LV

I've already cut down the inner door panel backing & restapled the vinyl in place. I'll use some finishing self tapping screws instead of the factory attaching config. My panels had a few broken places on the edges where I pulled them out  so I think I can make these last a while.

Hey Chuck, Look'n good man!!!!

It's been awhile since I checked in on your Pig build! I was following pretty close for awhile but then you really slowed down so I kinda forgot about it.

What size tires are those again? I know it's in the thread some where but I don't have hrs to look for it:doh:!

Soooo your putt'n holes in the doors for extra visability and air flow:meh:? Cool, I don't think I would have ever thought of that:frown:!

Roy, I thought I lost 'ya there for a while. Seen you hangin around the classifieds sections ALOT :D You forgot about my thread  You're my #1 fan out there  I'll try & keep you entertained w/ new & frequent pics so you don't lose interest again ;p

The tires are 37/ 12.5/ 16.5 SSR's

I wanted the doors to have a "lightened" look so the weight referees wouldn't keep throwing flags at me  I think I'll take my chances not having any protection there. Besides my front seats are up high enough that I don't think any trail debris can get to me.

Tonight, I paint..........

My first thought brought me back to my computer modding days, it is off the wall but here goes, put in some plexi- windows and have some neons or LED lighting in there, not too bright but just a little, maybe a light the color of your rig. You could also put some small trinkets inside the windows of 55 memorbilia (glued down of fastened down. I said it was off the wall but it is what came to mind first when I saw the "windows" in the doors. Call me crazy!

Actually I don't spend much time at all in the classifieds anymore. I spend more time in the 80 tech section.

I like the neon lights in the door windows that would be :grinpimp::lol:!

I have a little build thread going too...here's the link! Of course it doesn't compare to yours though:doh:!

80's tech OOOhhh that's .........almost hardcore? :hhmm:
I'll be checkin in on your :wrench: progress ;p

Doors are drying. Next is the reassembly & install.

I stopped by Mild To Wild 4x4 & picked up my PSC ram & hdwe. It's a 1.75 X 8". Ya'll know what's up after the doors.
