bob it.

FJBen - much better job of photochoppin that I can do. I really like the convertible. The center pillar between the doors would need to be tied on the innerside to the cage. Or suicide the doors & make the rear door hinge above the wheelwell....Hmmm.... This opens many options on the doors & roof....

If I had two pigs, I might chop one up. I liked the cage on the pig JK Customs did, but I can't seem to find it on their website. I don't know if I would bob it though. It would be kind of fun driving around a convertible pig... as long as it didn't look too much like a scout! Anybody have the JK Customs pig picture?

Kind of a cool idea.... I little different than what I would do but some good ideas.

I think this white pig looks pretty cool...

I think I read in TT that the White cruiser wasn't on a fj55 frame... I think Chevy blazer or something like that, but still cool concept.

<<<QUOTE=RUSH55>>>Now this is what I call a Pig ROAST! The guy posts an innocent idea and gets slammed relentlessly!!

1) he asked for it.

...I say, it's your rig, do whatever the f**k you want to it...

B) We know that. That's what we do. We usually don't take polls to find what the other Pigowners think of a certain treatment to accomplish a certain look.

...(but don't expect it to go over well on this board!). ...

III) If he was, his expectations have been dashed!

...I've seen and heard of cheesier shiz, like....nah, I'd better not say.<<</QUOTE>>>...

four) Remember that lowered, louvered red 40 on ebay a while back? Hideous.

I love the lines of a Pig. Something about it just evokes something I can't describe. The more you cut off the less it looks that way. I hated trimming the lips off my front fenders, had to do it though. Form follows Function. Not the other way around. If your roof has to come off and you can't manage a replacement, by all means, cut it off and do something original. If you can keep your roof, you may find in the future you will be glad that you did.
I, for one, prefer that my Pig be recognizable as a Toyota LandCruiser. I do not want to disguise it, I want to emphasize it. I sure as hell don't want to dress it up to look like another car. The other owners dress up their cars to look like mine.

Hee, hee... I never had that much scenery around mine, top on or off...:frown: Fun truck, despite being a Jeep (I loved having a removable top).

I'm in the preservationist crowd. But if it's too far gone to save intact, do whatever you want.

I love the four door with the truck back look. It really still exemplifies the body lines while making it unique. I really like the paint scheme as well

This thread has a better utilitarian and less "bling" discussion on how to mod. a 55. "We" seem less concerned about "looks", and more focused on function. There are some really nice, highly modded, bobbed, cut, hacked, whatever, trucks out there, and they are fine for what they are built for. If it's not necessary, why do it? Get an avalanche, and try to build it to be as capable as a stock FJ55. Now, there's a challenge.

Don't do it. You have a decent start on building a rust free straight pig. If you want to cut it, find one with a bad roof and other issues...... just my .02

Too bad, already hacked the rear clip & frame. This truck was heavily rusted when I bought it ('98) so I subbed out rust repair to a *body guy. He did some good glass work on the rear corners, but welding in new steel was not his specialty. I'm cutting out most of his patchwork, so stay tuned for more progress pics of my 55alanche......

being down under i'd never heard of or seen a chev avalanche until i googled it, and bloody hell why the :censor: would you want a vehicle that looked like that, let alone duplicate it on a car that eats it alive looks wise and offroadability.

to me that would be like restoring a p51 mustang and going and putting parts from a cessna onto it.

but if you feel you must do this, don't let me stop you. :frown:

I don't know if this is "outside the box", but would a custom sliding rag-top from a VW van work on a Pig? I think it would look good on a bobbed Pig IMO. Then again this may just be Capt. Morgan talking.

I like the lines of the convertible pig, with a full cage of course, that both Ben posted and the pics of the white pig from the Pig Run posted from a few years back. I have some decent rot and rust along my gutters and have wanted to hack the thing apart but still have not been able to do it, yet...

Keep us posted, with more pics.
