That can be hard. For me, I figure tough it out, that way every other trip from here on will be easy. Just need to make sure my hair doesnt get wet and loose my hairdo

Still not 100% she's coming along. Need to talk it out this evening.
I may end up solo again this year and eat the cost of her space (again).
If she's out, I'll probably see about a last minute schedule juggling to free up additional chunks of time to get off site a bit.

I paid for my wife last year and lost that when she couldn't go. Understand, I got a feeling a lot of guys will be soloing it. I am looking forward to all the recovery classes, more fun in the wet, bringing extra socks!

...maybe if she bails, I'll see about stuffing into a 101 class with Scott. I figure that'd be a good excuse for me too.

Ok, I'm still going. Looks like Friday gets less than a half inch of rain, Saturday on the other hand - about 4". Then, Sunday chills out a little.

When's the trail ride?

thought about going but couldn't justify the price of the ticket.

Was going to do a day ticket but Andrea is not feeling great still and I don't want her getting sick from the rain.

Everyone please take tons of pictures.

If there are any suburbans in the parking lot and you can snag any pics of the interior set ups please do.

Trying to get ideas for mine as it will be our adventure rig for a bit until we get a diesel imported 80 in a few years.

Bummed right now. The last report Sarah and I watched has Joaquin turning left and hitting our little piece of the coast as a likely Class III.
We're not willing to leave the dogs in someone else's care with flooding and prolonged power outages likely, and I'm not going to leave Sarah behind in the ILM with two kiddies and two dogs. The last time I left her with a hurricane coming in VT 1/2 the roads in the state were washed away.
We'll be watching the forecasts and hoping for a change. If the damn storm banks a right and heads out to sea, I'll gladly brave the rain in the hills of Asheville, but I need to be sure all's well on the homestead before heading out.
Tomorrow instead of driving, I will start battening down the hatches.

Do your thing man. Joaquin is making a mess, not worth the risk. If it gets really bad. May cut it short.

Be safe and Bug out if it gets nuts. We are an hour south of Asheville and we can put you guys and the dogs up if you need a place to land.

Flash flood warnings are up from now until Monday throughout the region. Already floods in Spartanburg and surrounding areas.

Don't let them put you in low lying areas. I've been through a couple flash floods when I lived up the mountain in Hendersonville, they come in a hurry.

We'll call you Saturday Izzy.

We opted to rent a cabin this year instead of camping onsite. Looks like a good call now given the forecast. We'll be at the event on Saturday.

We will need to know quickly, but is anyone interested in taking our reservations at the Red Rocker Inn? Two nights at Black MTN. We would give you the tickets to Trampled by Turtles at the Pisgah Brewing Company tonight if you want, as well.

Red Rocker Inn - Black Mountain - United States

Pisgah Brewing

We are thinking about staying home vs taking a Prius.

Our 4Runner is awaiting parts for the front end and alignment.

We were planning on leaving our 17 and 12-year-olds at home and are less confident in doing that than we were a few weeks ago with the weather.

If we don't get any takers, we will still "go for it" and leave here around 3 PM. You can call me anytime at 9 1 3 9 0 8 8 6 9 0

Reporting live! Form the hill at Taylor Ranch. It is raining. Tent-mahal holding steady. But the day was pretty good otherwise. If anyone else was man enough (read D U M B) to camp here, I am in the blue tent under pop up canopy.

Where'd you end up setting up?

Dude, how muddy is Taylors? The entire state of NC is under state of emergency. I'm driving up tomorrow morning.
