Mine is on the left here. We will probably synch up to go, depending on when people are heading out etc. And possible plan to camp on near each other on an area. Jim suggested the area up on the hill, to the left of the lower camping area, overlooking the lake. I suggested near the shower and amenities because I am a pansy. But we will connect closer to the date.

And yes, come to Logans Run, meet a lot of group there too, and welcome to North Wacalaca.

Is this guy gonna be there again? (taken from the website)....

Yes.... Stupid matching embroidered "safari style" shirts.... By the look of his eyes, whatever's in that mason jar is the 'kool-aid'. Perhaps it's Land Rover blinker fluid?

That guy was great! Really funny guy. Andy Dacey was his name.
Welshman I think.
He was part of the Camel Trophy crew (that's what the shirts are all about).
I think he's currently an arborist in Greensboro - or something like that.
From what I understand, the crew got into a bit o'moonshine one night.
I think he is listed as one of the instructors this year.

The guy beside him is Duncan Barbour - 1989 Special events coordinator for the Camel Trophy. These guys know their sh*t.

I'm currently planning on rolling out of the ILM Thursday morning. My intent is to be on the road by 8:00am.I''l have the wife and kids, so we'll probably get on the road sometime after lunch:bang:.

I packed my schedule last year. This year I'm going to go a bit lighter and would love to get off the ranch a bit for some trail riding.

EDIT: he used to be in the tree service biz - now I guess its this Andy Dacey – Wildtrackers – The remote location specialists.

HI, new here in North Carolina, just moved a week ago to Huntersville. I will be going to the Overland Expo, can you post pictures of your rigs to find you and make Cruiser friends around the area.

Here's a few of the rig I'll most likely be in, Green 2001 4Runner:

Those guys were funny as hell, I know that much, entertaining and really easy to talk to. I did some of their classes too, you get a feeling they can make a rope by cutting their own hair and getting your vehicle unstuck by farting into balloons. Impressive.

Jim, if you are planning on some "extracurricular" activities, let me know if you want company. I did my schedule already for the classes, taking different ones this year, specially the one that answers one of my biggest question "when he hell do I engage and use lockers?" Also the one for using the winch for more than recovery like cross-traversing, whatever that means. Others: tire repair, Gaia navigation, water crossings, and camel trophy rope repair.

Since I have no lockers :(, I wasn't taking that one.
I was definitely thinking of the advanced winch class, and water crossing.
Also looking at some non-driving classes - gotta get away from brats and top ramen, and I wouldn't mind if some of pictures were a bit better.
I took the rope repair last year, if you ever drag that nice synthetic line over a sharp object, or if you just want to make some nice winch line extensions, it'll come in handy.
The wife and kids are coming long, so there's going to be some Jr. Overland Ranger stuff and the wife is going to take a few basic classes as well.
Do you have any obvious gaps in the schedule to get out off site? Let me know, and I can try to build my schedule accordingly.

Looks like we will be in the area. We are spending THU and FRI night in Black Mountain, but will only be busy THU night. Would love to meet up with folks FRI, SAT or early SUN.

We are even thinking about going in THU, getting a tent and gear set up, just to claim a space, and then only spend the night SAT night as my wife already booked the two nights at a B&B. We would take all of our valuables.

We trying to do a group camping spot or is that too hard?

Not sure how difficult it would be, when I got there I was directed to camping spot, but saw people moving afterwards. Land Rovers have a group camp, so why not try? A good spot would be on the hill overlooking the lake.

I think whoever gets there first should head that way and try to stake it out.

Do we have a tally for how many are in for the weekend?

Quick look back through the thread and I'm seeing 9 stating they'll be there.

Different spot, I think. Roverville was down next to the Rover Driving School staging area, I was near there since I drove the wife's station wagon last year. Up on the hill was the entrance to the driving course, seems like it was sparse. I think Jim was up there, and you have the benefits of trees there too.
