your head is messed up.

if this isn't a case of the "pot calling the kettle black" I don't know what is :hillbilly:

Thanks for all the input guys, and thanks for doing your duty as loyal cruiserheads by trying to talk me out of selling it..... however at this point I have commited to buying the FJ45 so the 40 has to go as there isn't any way in hell the :princess: would let me take money out of saving for another cruiser:o Also another factor not mentioned is I have 2 other 1962 FJ40's sitting in my sister's barn waiting on their turn for a restoration, and one of them has the cleanest body on a FJ40 of that vintage I have ever run across. So it will be the one 40 I always keep.

The 3FE 40 believe it or not I built to wheel, since I live in augusta and am a good 3 hours min. away from our closest wheeling spots I wanted the 3FE to make it a more doable drive. Though in the last year I have made only two trips to the upstate in the 40 and have just come to realization I not going to get to use the 40 as I intended. Thus I would rather have something like a FJ45 that I can actually use around town for trips to Lowes for lumber, or hauling my canoe to the river, both things I can't do in my 40......... the FJ45 just makes more pratical sense to me it is a much more usable work horse

okay enough rambing, I was really looking for some input on price, as the range I had in my head was 12k-14k and from the few who have committed that doesn't seem that far fetched

thanks guys:cheers:

very sweet ride. I followed your build from the beginning. If i were going to pick up a 40, this would be it. What kind of milage do you get with the manual and 3fe?

16-17 on the few trips I made to the upstate and back...... a vast impovement of the tired 1F, plus it feels like a race car compared to before :hillbilly:

Sounds like someone is too much of a wuss to drive his 40 to the upstate for some wheeling trips.....guess that desk job and having to wear shoes is turning u into a softy.....I think rite aid is having a sale on hemroid pillows so you don't hurt your hind end when you drive the 40.....what happened to the old JP we all once knew, did aliens abduct you and turn you???

Whatcha talking bout Willis??

First off when was the last time your 40 made it to a wheeling trip, or even out of the carport for that matter:rolleyes:

Secondly I think you guys are all missing the bigger picture here.... I am not selling my 40 and getting out of cruisers, I am selling my 40 so I can an FJ45LPB!!! You know the uber rare uber cool model most of us would give our left nut for:grinpimp:

and FYI I still wrench with my flip flops on and I've spend more time than anyone in this club working on cruisers, so don't you go calling me a "wuss, softy, etc." :flipoff2:

I have the perfect solution: tell me where the 45 is and keep your 40. That way everyone wins! :grinpimp:

I do hope you get the range you're looking for, the market is tough for a seller right now. Good luck, it is one sa-weet 40!!

If only you had ME's number she would 100% support this idea and she knows just where to find said 45 :hillbilly:

Sell the Cruiser and spend the money on something you want and will use more and you won't regret it one bit. Sell the Cruiser and pay down debt or buy something that is worthless in 5 years and you will hate your self. I haven't regretted selling my Cruiser once. The smile on my sons face as we went fishing this week was worth it, as was every Redfish and Flounder we caught.:)

Thanks for the props on the Avatar, figured it was more fitting since I don't have Cruisers on the brain anymore.

JP, I think you are going to have to look outside the MUD buyers' market for that price range. Think of the full resto's you've seen on Barrett Jackson...that's stupid money, but you know what I'm sayin'. Collector's will appreciate the full, frame-off resto work you did despite the non-stock drive train. You can still say its 100% TEQ, but with "benefits" the original didn't have. It's not like you stuck a GM motor in it. Best of luck.

Thanks for the advice Rick, and as much as I hate to do it you are right about putting it outside of Mud. As Mud really isn't the best place to get your moneys worth, few here understand what it really takes to do a "frame off resto." ........ Ebay here we come

Yeah certainly not going to get that on mud. But you would certainly get it on e-bay.

And don't listen to Chuck. He's still trying to figure out where to buy an oil pan gasket. He's been talking about buying it for 4 months.

Anyway see you this weekend.

put a roof rack on the 40 and your small boat hauling issues are solved!

get a trailer and you can haul wood, i've been using mine as a moving truck for a week. With the v8 under the hood i don't even notice it back there.

The truck is nice but your stuck only riding 2.

Put a diesel in the 40 and she'd be twice as sweet!

Looking for her number right now...

There's a 78 in Greenville on eBay with a little over a day left and the bidding is up to $12K (reserve not met).

Detail your 40 and post a bunch (20+) of quality pictures and you should do OK.

The back of the frame has been cut off and replaced.

Have no idea how I have not seen this cruiser.

There are a lot of non '78 parts on this thing... I like that color though. Check out the hood hooks and windshield, the rear tub is wrong for the vintage, but looks like a good truck.
