Opinions on OME "Low Height" suspension kit from CruiserOutfitters?

Thanks much, that's really helpful.

Any thoughts about installing both sets of OME "A" coils on the drivers side, which I think is recommended for obvious reasons? I think the "A" coils are very slightly taller. I've read opinions where people try to mix the order (for example, rear "A" coil on passenger side) to try and offset the different coil heights so the truck doesn't lean to one side.

Anybody running OME Stock Height kit with 30mm spacers and 315's?

Since 285's fit on older, saggy suspensions, a stock height fit with spacers has to be close to giving you the ~1.5" you need to comfortably run 315's right?

It will work... you need to lower your bump stops for 315s though.

Thanks much!

Would you recommend lowering 2" front and rear?

How do I get a hold of Cdan for the Tokico's? Is that a username? website..? Sorry, I'm a newb trying to get a 24 yr old Land Cruiser to go down the street w/out trying to kill me. Any help appreciated!

:-) Figured it out...

Thread resurrection! :p

This one owner AZ '94 is in the spa for a full mechanical restoration and it is time to order the suspension parts.
If it were an expedition build we'd normally run 850Js and 864s or 868s (depending on projected load out) with L shocks.
However this one is going to be entirely stock and rolling on 285/75-16 KO2s.

Initially we were thinking 851/865 combo with OME sport shocks as they would provide a nice level stance and improved performance over stock.
However I wanted to poll you guys running stock height/low suspensions first and see what the most popular route is these days.

Thanks!

Johnny

I'm running 861/862s with OEM shocks on 285 Toyo ATs. Have about 22K miles on this combo and really like it on the street. Rides well empty or loaded down (running 35 psi). Offroad I hate it though. It flexes ok but it will beat you to death on trails and fire roads. However, like I said, if it's mostly a street rig then you can't beat it.

Sad to hear you hate it off road, what PSI are you running on trails and fire roads?

@newtrayback you were running the 851/865 combo?

Thanks for the responses!

18-20psi. And I'm pretty used to being beat up offroad in my IFS 4runner haha. I just know the 80 can be better.

Adding to this thread! I have been thinking about buying the ome stock hight coils for a while now. my 1991 (made in march of 1990) needs a spring replacement. they are pretty toast. Has lots of body roll when driving. also if this makes a difference mine does not have fender flairs from factory. I have already purchased the ome NitroCharger shocks. and a steering dampener. I believe they work with both the stock hight and 2.5 inch lift. any body here confirm that? I have been looking into maybe the 2.5 inch lift with 33x1050s.. since I am a broke teacher, I am conflicted on 31x10.50 15 inch tires or 33x10.50 15s. I don't know If I want to loose mpg. and also the 3fe is already kinda slow. feels like my 1998 4cy taco with 31s right now. I am also worried with the 1 inch lift from the stock hight the 31s will look goofy. I like having more space in the finder wells because living at the beach I like to be able to spray the frame off to get the sand off. does anybody have any input?

You don't need any lift to clear 33s. They may not seem like they have enough clearance with the original sagging coils, but they will be fine with fresh stock height coils.

That said, the 3FE suggests you think carefully about going to 33s. If you're not going to the mountains, you'll be fine on the coast since you won't lose anything power-wise due to altitude. But it won't be as snappy (can a 3FE even be snappy, I don't know) as it would on 31s.

Finally, if you're on a budget, then also consider that the 2.5" lift will likely require caster correction, so extra work, cost and a trip to the alignment shop will need to be in your budget. Personally, I'd stay with stock height.

Haha the 3fe is a great engine and if it had a 5speed behind it I would not think twice about the 33s. I am leaning towards the 33 but I actually do need the power as I do off roading often. the beach here is very very soft sand (like desert dunes) so those 33s Gotta turn. I am with you I don't want to do the caster correction seems like a PITA. Thanks for your input. I think I am leaning towards the stock hight too. I do take my cruiser out to the blue ridge mountains some though. maybe Ill put the OME stock springs in and leave the 31s while I decide.

Great old thread revival. This is OME stock height springs and shocks about 3 years old, with 285s/33's on stock wheels obvi, and then with 315's/35ish FJ cruiser wheels that I put on couple months ago. Both fit, this is my daily driver.

This confirms I want to go with the OME stock springs! thanks!!! those fjcruiser rims look good under yours.

I bought the OME stock height kit for my 96 , cause it too sagged. Put it on and loved it ever since ! It actually lifts your 80 series about an inch at first till it settles, then it's about 1/2 inch taller than stock . Since then I did put slightly larger tires on it ( 285/75/16), just cause they fit better I thought and some sliders more for the cat protection than anything else ... Anyway I highly recommend the OME stock height kit ! It rides very well and stays level ! Oh very important ... Of you want it to ride level and not that stink bug look (rear end sticking higher up than the front ) , I put 1 " pucks on top of the front springs and it levels it out !
