I bought the OME stock height kit for my 96 , cause it too sagged. Put it on and loved it ever since ! It actually lifts your 80 series about an inch at first till it settles, then it's about 1/2 inch taller than stock . Since then I did put slightly larger tires on it ( 285/75/16), just cause they fit better I thought and some sliders more for the cat protection than anything else ... Anyway I highly recommend the OME stock height kit ! It rides very well and stays level ! Oh very important ... Of you want it to ride level and not that stink bug look (rear end sticking higher up than the front ) , I put 1 " pucks on top of the front springs and it levels it out !

I almost asked about spacers for the front. I was worried about the stinkbug look. thanks this is good to know. I don't carry much often except surfboards on the roof.

I've always found it interesting that 80 series owners are so keen on doing away with stinkbug. As a former FJ55 driver, the issue generally was about dragging :moon: Thus I think the 80 is q pretty good advance when it comes to the nominal measurements

With the 80, the coil springs are length sensitive to weight more than leaves and torsion bars would be.

If you do have very little weight in back, yeah, good to anticipate and compensate for that. Keep in mind that the driveline is designed to run OK through the full range of motion, but you'll improve parts life on that the closer you can keep it to middle range of the stock angles.

How best to achieve that? Like me, many favor airbags. Parts cost is less than $100 and it's a half day job even with minimal skills. This way, you can dial in the rear suspension how you like it for your typical daily load, while having the option to adjust for that heavy load when it happens, say for a vacation or when pulling a trailer.

I have been pretty pleased with airbags inside the stock rear springs on mine. Just add a little air when towing or carrying extra weight, then air it back down for the day-to-day drive. Works great for me. But I'm at factory spring height on 255-85's, so maybe not so hot for lifted rigs? YMMV.
