Put another couple of hours in on Blue today and I’m going to call it fixed.

I love my AFI. It truly is amazing how well this truck runs.

I now have a couple spare O2s in the box. Just in case.

I stuffed the computer back in the glove box, reinstalled the MAP sensor, reorganized my tools.

I added my CO2 mount to the new swingout. Hopefully I can get my propane mount on the other side of the can. The swingout is way overbuilt for only 5 gallons.

Great story and photos - glad you're having fun. Thanks for including Norm's thoughts.

I presume you're just buying Delco O2 sensors on Rock Auto for a 1990 Chevy pickup with a 350 (or some generic TBI-mobile like that)? I need to buy a spare, and I see that they are cheap!

What lights did you swap to after the amazon special fog lights?
Also, I just remembered to get with you about the fuel tank...

I like those. Some dealer on IG tried to offer me cost on a set but I’m happy until the fake arb’s die.

I’m currently working in Lousyana and don’t know when I’ll be home either.

Wow. I have ordered ~40 times from them. Very satisfied customer and lots of deals on Denso parts (how about Denso 7mm spark plug wires for an FJ62 for $15.92/set?). Spark plugs are cheap - like $2.47 for many, and 12" wiper blades for my FJ40 were $1.12/each. Some killer closeout deals, too. Reasonable shipping, super easy core returns/parts returns. At least check them out, if you haven't.

I’ve ordered about 50 times also. Never had an issue that wasn’t my fault. Be sure and double check part numbers first.

44 is code for O2 sensor reading lean. That is not a code for bad O2 sensor, just a lean reading. Common culprits are: weak FP, dirty FF, vacuum leaks, etc.

The only time it threw the 44 was when I left the block ground wire off a few weeks ago.

The 13 code is what it was throwing all last weekend.

@Rusty 72 messaged me that my MAP sensor has been mounted wrong.

Per AFI it is supposed to be horizontal and I’ve had it vertical this whole time.

How I have it now

The MAP sensor should be mounted so gas or water vapor can't condense & puddle into the sensor. That means mounted as you have it now, and up high with no traps in the hose if possible.

wngrog, Great rig, fantastic thread. Thank you for the detailed writeup.
I will use this thread when I rebuild my 2F, and hopefully add FI,for my 60.

So I looked at the website.
And they say if your in an emissions required state please call!
Is that so they can tell you nope sorry your SOL!....lol

CA is bummer with this stuff!

I emailed AFI and got this response.

Thank you for writing. We currently do not have an EO certification for our kits. We did some years ago but the cost of maintain it was to much for the business we had. How ever, our new optimum kit does have plans to be emissions certified. You are looking at about a year on that certification to happen.

So there is hope.
Maybe if all the CA folks let them know we're interested they'll keep it up.
