Small world, I live just down the road from CTS. Joe is a great guy, fair, and he knows his stuff. He's worked on all 3 of my Cruisers and I bought my 60 from Joe; I would recommend him to every one nearby.
Ya, he used to have tons of cruisers going in and out of their, but when the economy tanked in 08 he had to rely more on just general Toyota n Lexus repairs because a lot of the cruiser "fix up my toy" work dropped off. It seems nowadays thats mostly what he is known for rather than the cruiser stuff by a lot of people. From what I have seen lately though cruiser work is picking up. Thats a great area to live, a lot of cool places around their.

So, question: if I am to add on-board air regardless, any reason to pick these over ARBs?
I have had my arb locker in for over ten years, oring is still working. But I don't wheel every weekend and turn it on and off 50 times every time I wheel either. Im sure you would be happy either way, but with the harrop you don't get the cool "psht' noise when you shut it off lol.

I want one just to try it out. I have 6 arbs in 3 trucks and know how they work (great). FJ62 is jealous and asks me for a locker every time I drive it, and since it doesn't already have an aircompressor, it's getting a Harrop. Georg is local to me, so he's a convenient source.

His Cruiser work has picked up quite a bit since last summer. Folks are moving to Denver by the bushel , lol. You have to schedule a week in advance. Thank you, it is a nice place to live but man is it getting crowded, time to scoot up to Wyoming. Oops I got chatty.

This is good to know! I live 2 exits down C470 from 285! I was hoping there was someone local that could help in a pinch if I didn't have time to wrench myself

Sounds like the costs are comparable and if you got on board air already, I'd go with the ARBs. I'm going on 11 years with my ARBs and no O ring leaks. Installation has a lot to do with O ring leaking and ARB did change the design of the O rings in the past.

Wow...really expected the project to be finished by now, but sometimes life gets in the way. I finally got the 3rd off after a bit of a wrestling match...I won! :flipoff2:

Awesome! Yeah tell me about it. I don't have time for squat. I'm right behind you. Hopefully in a couple weeks I'll be pulling my 3rd out as well.
Are you doing gears as well? I'm planning on going to JT for 4.88's and then of to get them cryo'd. Never bought from Just Differentials before. We shall see. Good job on the getting it done!

Disassembly begins!!

Here we go! Brand new Koyo carrier bearings and everything looks great! Almost done...just need Joey to wire this thing proper like!

Wiring should be a breeze. It's 2 wires...

In fact, the wiring looks easier than the wiring for an airlocker, ironically.

But awesome stuff, I'll look forward to your impressions once installed.

So was defaulting to an ARB for my SF 60 rear. However, I ran the Eaton version that was limited slip/locker in a CJ8 that I had 10 years ago and it was great. From what I have been able to gather, Harrup will work in FF 60 applications only, correct? So front but not dice on the rear?

Sorry... On my phone. Just realized this is the 80 section...

Check the Harrop model A9378. Maybe @wardharris can verify.

Thanks for your response and sorry again for jacking the thread with 60 tech. A9378 was identified in Mud classified post that I came across as not fitting SF rear, and other posts seem to indicate that they only fit FF. There is a 99-ELKR9378 product code that list 60 series application front and rear on the Harrup website, but don't know how to take that given that that could easily refer to Aussie spec 60s only. I'll PM Georg so I can stop derailing the thread.

so I recently bought this lx450, 96 ...cause I wanted a solid front axle and the beefiness of the 80 series. I had thought about several wanted mods, lift, regear , etc. but after all the bs things going wrong wit the last yota ( 89 truck, sas, 5:29's quicklocks, marlin 4.7, etc.) , all I really care about for my needs is at least a rear locker ( I know how crappy open punkin's and being stuck , other vehicle is a frontier 4x open ) so anyway although the quick locks in the truck worked well , they sucked with the cling clang pop bang on the street, so I want a select-able locker ... so thought ARB ... but after reading this thread , these Harrop elockers sound like the ticket ! That being said , I'm mechanically challenged , so I need them installed by hopefully the guy in Stockton ? Georg I believe ? I assume he would do this ? I live in the sf bay area , so stockton is close - 60 miles-ish. anyway I wondered what a rear harrup locker installed would be price wise?

I know I should do both front and rear, but for the occasional expedition trip taking the easier softer way is the way for me ( No more 'con trips for me , been there , done that ), I just want to get to the remote trout streams in NorCal, with out that fear of one wheel in the air spinnin and figured a rear locker would be all I needed !

Your thoughts, especially Georg ?

Georg (@orangefj45) is driving back from Texas this weekend, should be at the shop tomorrow. In the meantime:

- Yes, A9378 only fits full float axles and unless modified, USA 60 Series rears are semi-float.....Sorry.
- We have seen a few snafus on Australian orders - there are some differences between JDM, AUS and USA/CDN trucks. For example, the Harrop and Terrain Tamer websites say that 2004 and later HiLux/Tacoma rears will fit A9334, but that only applies to 6 cylinder trucks in North America.
- MY humble opinion is that a rear actuated locker suits 98% of most needs for fishin' rigs :). My LSJ 73 is having a second Harrop added to the front, but that's so Georg can demo the rig in more extreme situations (that scare the crap out of me) :)
- We have what you need in stock in California, with promotional pricing - shoot Georg (@orangefj45), Onur (@beno), Tor (@torfab), Rob (@Diesel Cruiserman), Lance (@IPOR), ACC (@ACC Toyota), Forge (@35inchoverdrive) at PM or call 'em

End of hijack.....
