That is a heavy price tag for the one in Maine but I would be trading my 1929 hot rod so not real cash going anywhere. I'm into the hot rod for cheap so not the end of the world as long as its in decent shape.

That black one in Westwood has diamond plate floors that I could have welded better and lots of rust. Worst part is the rear spring perches are tack welded on the outside edge of the frame rail. The only thing holding it up in back is a very small weld about 2 inches long. Wish I had a pic of it. It was ridiculous. One bump and you would be dead.

plow for sale... came off the 94 4runner I just got. no idea if it works but it is in decent shape

Id like a chunk of change but always entertain trades. Let me know if anyones interested.

Skeptical about year. Certainly early and pretty orig, but wouldn't a 61 have 25 style round rear wheel wells? Sweet as a purist style refurb but its a shame if you're gonna ditch the whole drivetrain for something more "user friendly". These old era rigs are too few and far between to go by the wayside IMOP...

Hadn't planned on ditching the drivetrain. has the original rebuilt F

Anyone know about this one 1961 FJ40 in Lewiston Maine?

Yeah. The kid seems like a good guy, but is a little goofy with the pricing. He was asking $5000 for it a couple years ago, which was too much for it. Every time he lists it for sale and it doesn't sell, he bumps up the price a few months later and tries again! I don't get it.

I looked at the truck a couple of years ago and turned it down when he was asking $5k .It's in decent shape for a local cruiser, but being a '61, its not a good wheeling or daily driving candidate. It's had some body work done in the past, so look it over very carefully if you're serious about buying it.

Only a fool would want an early 40!

Edit: As far as the year goes. It is indeed a '61. No FJ40's ever had the round wheel wells. That was an FJ25 only thing.

Wow. Thanks for the input. This guy got it from a guy in NH about 5 years ago. Probably best to wait. If it was closer it would be worth a ride to check it out. Bummer

I don't mind older cars (obviously since I own a 1929) I'm not much of a wheeling guy anyway, more of mall cruising.

Keeping the rat rod is not necessarily a bad thing. Just as fun as a cruiser but a different kind of fun. Something will come along

He traded a $3500 motorcycle for it from the guy in NH.

Remember, if you wait, it'll be $12,500 the next time he lists it!

Yeah. I had a feeling I was going to drive 6 hours round trip and be disappointed. I was trying to be an optimist. Onwards....

So I must been thinking of FJ25 factory soft tops then.

He did stress how cool the tires looked on it.

Anyway, got a solid inquiry on a semi-basket case with all the hard work done. We'll see

The body is done and in primer. engine block is new and is in but nothing else is installed other than the seats. It's doable and a lot of the hard work is done. We'll see. Should hear something today
