A Heads Up!!

If you are looking at this truck, proceed with caution
1989 fj62 toyota land cruiser

The guy selling it does not legally own it. He bought it from a buddy with a mechanic shop that is closing and the LC belongs to a customer that is not responding to the mechanic. The mechanic told the guy he sold it to he is going to go and get a mechanic's lien and it should only take a couple weeks, good luck with that.

In SC it is very complicated to gain title to a vehicle through mechanic's lien, in fact the vehicle must go to Magistrate auction. In fact, if the title holder reported it stolen right now, he would be correct in the eyes of the law and the guy currently selling it would be guilty of receiving stolen property. I told the guy selling it all of this as well.

I THINK it was 3500.

Worth twice that just for those sweet sweet rims

Nitpick the details (brakes run about 600 per axle to fix, and an axle repair could be 1k.... I bet if you offered him 2k to 2200 cash, you could drag that puppy home. About 1k in repairs to the brakes and axle, and you have a locked 80 series for 3k Recoup most of that money by selling the pimpster wheels...Deals are out there if youre willing to drop a low number and walk away if you dont get it without pain.

Id get it just for the cloth interior and lockers, but I think my wife would kill me if I had another LC in the driveway right now.

I got a little more information, its a women selling for her boyfriend. She says the brakes go to the floor, and that it needs a new caliper in the front. Possibly going down there Saturday to look at it. Close on price, but not there yet.

Edit: They took it to a Toyota dealership and got a price of $3,000 for the brakes and axle work. Trying to find out what else might be included in the $3k quote.

does anyone know what the "small" problem with the axle is?? that small problem could be a I left the lockers on and drove a few hundred miles on pavement kind of problem

can you even drive a few hundred miles on pavement with the lockers on? Sheesh, parkin at walmart would be a near death experience....would look like its got hydraulics all the way around with the hopping, not to mention the sound of gunshots (actually the gears binding and popping), and the squealin tires.

there have been horror stories document in these hallowed halls of mud.... maybe not hundreds of miles, but you get the point.... a "small" axle problem could be anything on craigslist.

I was toying with the idea of heading that way myself, but you've taken it further than I do you e got dibs. If you aren't going, let know.

Wow. I want this. I want this bad.

I wouldn't dare buy it from this guy, though. Seems like a prick and he only has 20 feedbacks. If there was a way, short of building an entire truck from imported parts, the Mud community would know how to do it.

I still want it.
The struggle is real! I do too!

If you want to pursue it by all means go ahead. They are out $2500, I'm at $2,200 and I'm not going higher. I probably would if I was closer, but I'm not going to be upset at all if you grab it

+1 on the chronic prickanosis. It's pretty cool, but just buy a new us spec for what he's wanting.
