nice proportion , look better  perfect rig for spring deep snow Wheeling , with 5 lbs those tire will keep you on the top at low speed. snow riding in the spring is perfect , nice sunny day , topless , idling on first gear with friends and couple

ok back to your project , what is this lugs pattern ? :hmm: 20141213_211723_zps914357ea.jpg

Im using 6 to 8 lug adaptors from ez accessory.com or something like that. My buddy ran em in the rear on his raider that had a gm d44 8 bolt front axle and the stock raider 6 bolt rear. He beat on that little truck hard and never had an issue with them. Coincidentally, the front radius arms, coil buckets, coils and shock hoops from that raider are on my 40 as well. He was scrapping the raider when i started molesting the 40 and I like to recycle...

I have a gm d60 and 14 bolt in the sixty so I thought it would make sense to be able to swap tires/wheels between the two. And I thought the 40s would clear and look boss.. ha!

No snow wheelin for my trucks man, around here if the snow machine guys dont lynch you the salt the a****** city spreads on the roads will kill your rig quick. I have to get a straight up beater to winter wheel one day.

Haha! Good one..... Pretty sure thats what this was in the beginning no? ;cD (just like my "quick" diesel swap was going to be quick until it turned into the frame off!)

One thing I am thinking of doing is keeping it ratty looking. Dont get me wrong Ill be cutting and replacing a buttload of steel but I dont want it to end up looking all pretty and shiny like the sixty.

It's just so hard to resist eh!

Yeah yeah I remember that post lol. Things just kinda got out of hand you know?

Its funny but a buddy and I just went and checked out 2 40s last sunday. Dude who has em was working at the wreckers when they came in and got them for the price of steel. One is swiss cheese but is all there in pieces and the other is maybe a little better over all than my 40 was... Almost had my buddy convinced to grab em but he cheezed out.

Got the front adapters machined and threw on the big meats on all 4 corners.. Gonna have to adjust the steering stops a lil but otherwise they seem to fit ok, wasnt flexed out the best so it may rub here and there. Also got a set of brand new g2 chro mo front axles and birfs from the mud classifieds, interweb deals are cool.

Yeah, Im almost sorry for throwin em on there now lol. Thinking of all the crap that SHOULD be upgraded so im not breakin s*** on the trail. Id really want to step up to an orion t case with the low gears and some better rear axle shafts eventually.

But yeah, screw the 37s man and get somethin bigger.... ha!

D

Lol. Not too good. Just had the cell with me when we put the tires on and couldnt back up far enough in my buddies garage to get the whole thing in profile. Next time im out there ill try to get a good one.

I think I have the irocs sold so the hunt for a 17" x 38-40" tire deal will be on soon. Debating between running the stock alloy power wagon 5 spokes with the proposed new tires or getting something else. I can get a set of h2 alloys but I dont know if I like em enough... Have an ad on pirate looking for beadlocks but I doubt ill find a set for a decent price.

D

Iroks sold and i found another set 0f meats for either the 40 or 60. Picked up a set of red label krawlers in a 39x17 mounted on tmr beadlocked steelies for a smokin price. 2 trail runs on the tires and one on the rims cant beat that. Rims are 6 on 5.5 so i have to figure out if theyre gonna stay or if i should look for an 8 bolt set so i can swap the tires between the 40 and 60 easily. Cant wait to try em on the 60!

D

Yup 86 bj60 axles.

D

Some teaser shots of the new tires n rims. Theyre just a tad smaller than the km2s when standing side by side but theyll do.

Random pics of the van comin to life.

Modified the markers in the bib to have hi low instead of just high so now theyre markers and signals, also got them synchronized with the led signals in the aprons. F/r light harnesses are run and pinned to the 40 pin doisch connector in the firewall as are the horn front bumper light bar and aux reverse lights. Wiring is run from the back up switch gas tank idle solenoid and some of the interior lights to the firewall but not pinned yet.

Were making a nice diagram as we go to keep track of things and he printed a blow up of the 40 pin that were labelling to make things as simple as possible.

33s got thrown on to get it a little lower.

Thanks!

Yup theres a traction bar hangin out back there and so far i have chromo front birfs/ axles on stash. Im curious to see what eventually breaks lol.

D

I donno man, if I hit a trail with the big tires I might break junk.... Might just use it to crawl the malls man.

D

Yeah, it's starting to look like a mall crawler. Don't forget to park with one tire on the curb so they can see the articulation.:grinpimp:
