Thanks man, I love when people stare at it long enough to pick up on the little bull**** sprinkled all around it. lol.

It lives! Needs lectrical and the seats arent back from getting redone but I got to go for my first little boot lol. Still have to dick with the timing a little and fine tune it but hey man it drives and brakes and shifts and all that. Power steering is the cats ass too freaking effortless compared to the manual it had. Woo frikin hoo! Hopefully drag it to my buddies next weekend so he can start the wiring.

Crappy videos

Wow, i kinda thought your garage was another plane of existence that somehow didn't extend beyond the walls. Very cool to see it out!

Pete

P.s. those mud flaps look like there going to get folded right up on to the tires....

P

Yup. Gonna have some brass chain going from the bottom of the flap to a little loop I welded to the rear bumper to keep em away. Just keep forgetting to grab chain.

D

ps my garage is like a portal that stuff gets randomly sucked into never to see the light of day again... the 40 made it out the other side though.

So after replacing the rear output seal on my t case and fillin er back up found the front output was leaking as well lol. Leaked pretty good after the first drive the other day. After a little confusion regarding the seal id need (pinion lookin seal thats a little different looking than the one that was in there) I figured out that I did have it on stash so I ripped into the case yet again.

After the d shaft and yolk were off (goddam that 27 mm nut was on there tight) I took a good look at the nose cone to find there was a good sized chip and a crack right at the tip where the seal seats. Nice trail of oil was present in that spot so im guessing thats where the bastard was leaking from. Got as far as removing the cone from my spare case, cleanin it up, throwin the new seal in and giving it and the yolk a shot of paint. The spare was in great shape and as a bonus the yolk from the spare had way less pronounced wear where the seal rides.

I ordered orange45's transfer case brace and nose cone brace so while im waiting on that I can take my time gettin it back together. Hoping to get it to Peeties for wiring some time this weekend...

D

"New" nose cone and yolk are back on the transfer case but I had to stop myself there since id have to take off the 4wd shift fork to install oranges brace. I know its out of character for me to think ahead but heres proof lol.

Then out of the blue my buddy calls and tells me his friend from work is getting out of wheeling and has a warn 9000lb winch thats never been mounted for sale. The guy I usually get my recovery junk from (ttitanwinches) just ran out and I was out of luck with him so this deal popping up was pretty awesome. A 10 minute drive and 700$ got me a winch. True to his word the winch was never mounted or used and the mounting hardware was still in the sealed bag. Sweet!

Got it home then got worried because the winch I used as a template to build my winch plate, the t-max on my 60, is shorter than the warn on the motor side... Test fit the warn and by some miracle she fit with 1/8" to spare lol. Luck was on my side again. Gotta love when random stuff falls into place.

Otherwise seats are supposed to be done on monday, kinda excited to see them all redone. Still have to move a brake line and a couple other random things but it should get to my buddies to get wired this week some time.... I hope.

D

Bit more junk off the list. Winch is on, front license plate bracket is made, transfer case nose cone is swapped out to a non cracked one with a new seal (just waitin on a couple braces from a dude on mud to finish reassembly), seats are redone and installed, front ps brake line has been lengthened, the cruiser lean has been somewhat dealt with....

Probably forgettin something. Hopefully gonna drag it to my buddies to get wired today sometime.

Well the 40 is no longer in my garage, feels strange.... and empty. Almost threw the 60 in there just to fill it up but then thought better of it, id probably start messing with something on it lol.

Flat bedded it to Petes place wednesday evening. I drove along following the tow truck and the 40 was getting some looks from passers by, looked kinda neat with the suspension cycling over bumps. After unloading Pete and his gf took it for a rip up and down their long assed driveway and it ran mint. It was idling a bit high last time we ran it, the throttle cable got bumped when I changed the master and the housing was not sitting in the firewall stop so it was acting like there was slight pressure on the gas pedal. Flexed er out a bit on a little 2' ledge and found that I have to move the front bump stops down a tad. It did climb said ledge without issue in 2wd so thats cool. Pete said it felt stable to boot when he was off camber so thats cool too. Rear flexes way better than i would have thought.

So now just waitin on lectrification.... Oh and just to spite me orange45s case braces showed up yesterday lol.

Couple pics of the 40 at petes place.

Went for a rip out there yesterday and got both transfer case braces installed, the front drive shaft put back it and the skid put back on. Had to rip out the interior and the gas tank to get at the tranny hump to put the top brace on but 75% of that stuff had to come out anyways to make it easier for pete to wire.

Made up a little gague house the other day as well and threw it on. Holds the temp and oil pressure and fits into the stock ash tray hole with no extra cutting or holes. Dont have a pic of it installed.

Went out to Petes again yesterday and got some crap done while he was doing his electrical surgery. Mounted the led windshield lights I finally talked myself into buying, extended the transfer case breather vent up to the firewall, swapped out a heater hose that was too short and was in the way of the defrost vent pipe, and probably a bunch of other stuff Im forgetting. Pete was workin on the tail light wiring and he threw on one of his fancy plugs on the rev light switch I forgot to put back in the trans. Threw that on with a generous amount of sealant.

Speaking of fancy, the plugs and pass throughs hes using are all quadruple sealed dealies that are used on heavy equipment, i was freaking impressed to say the least. Good job Pete!

When I built the windshield hinge mounts for the aux lights I made a thick washer out of that self lubricating plastic to use at the pivot. Turns out I can have the mount all tightened up and still pivot the light 180* so they face backwards. Kinda cool to be able to point em on the fly without tools.

Sticker bombing campaign of the half doors progressed a little... lol.

Thanks man. I just hope to get to actually drive the damn thing this season. I can already picture myself as the wanker whos wearin his winter gear and drivin his rag top well into fall lol.

Oh well, at least ill be a happy wanker.

Randy jumped in with me yesterday and we went out for a rip to Peeties to mess around with the 40 again.

I had bent up my spare transfer case lever couple days ago to get it away from the passengers leg so it got swapped in. Cant really tell without the seats in but it does look to be a lot closer to the trans shifter than it was stock so hopefully it tucks in better and is no longer protruding into the passenger foot well while in the low gears. Peetie made up a fancy pig tail for the trans reverse light switch so that got routed up the passenger side of the trans following the breather hose and the trans tunnel got put back on hopefully for the last time.. The top transfer case brace made contact with the tunnel so that had to be massaged, might still be some contact but Im sure itll self clearance.

Bunch of little stuff got done, we routed the wiring for the 3rd brake light and ran a loom from the back of the van to the front, hooked up the stereo just to test it out and it sounds allright. Probably wouldnt be high enough quality for a serious audiophile but its good enough for me man. Seems like it could use a small sub maybe to round out the sound? We didnt really play with any of the settings so maybe it can be tuned a little. It turns out the mofo does have blueteeth man, had tunes playin all wireless like for a while lol. Installed the wired remote on the dash mounted to the wood under the pull knobs after Randy rerouted the wires so they came out the back of the unit instead of the top, turned out pretty clean and easy to access. Threw an led light in the stoosh box under the ds seat and installed the intake/exhaust manifold washers I made up to try to get rid of a leak. Custom pontiac sunflower fuse box got mounted on the ps inner fender with some mounting studs I threw together, fits pretty mint and is easy to get to. Wires come out pointed right at the 40 pin connector in the firewall to boot.

Pics. Note there may be profanity in the video.

Randy jumped in with me yesterday and we went out for a rip....

Hahaha! I bet 98% of the people on here don't get that "Ontario" reference...

(For those who don't)

Wonderin of someone would pick up on that eh? Lol.

D

Ha! You wouldnt believe how accurate that video is man.

D

Well shes safetied and plated as of yesterday. The down side is the wiring is still half way done... Hopefully soon.

D

Yeah yeah. Slowly but surely. My buddy has been busy with work junk so we get to work on it one day a week if that. Hes doing a very nice job, got his hands on a shrink wrap label maker so all of the wires are labelled, all connectors are of the sealed doishch sp? variaty and most of the looms have been run. All thats really left is the junk under the dash.

Besides wiring the front got lifted 3.5" with zj coil spacers then after i realized it looked and was stupid we rearranged the spacers so the ds got 1.25" of lift and the ps got 3/4". This got rid of the lean the van had and as a bonus the spacers have lips on them to center the coil spring. The ds front brake line got extended, e brake got adjusted (works mint btw), hood spear got blasted and powder coated, best top window channel got installed... The window channel came with holes for self tappers to secure it to the w/sh frame but since I just finished filling holes and painting I didnt feel like using them. New holes got drilled in the channel that meet up with the hard top bolt holes which makes a lot more sense if you ask me. The irony in all this is that the frame Im using had the self tapper holes drilled in it when I got it but why have 2 sets. Trollhole full bikini in black is on its way which ill probably need since itll probably be snowing by the time I TRY to drive er home.

Bunch of other small junk also got done but its kind of a pain not to have it at my place. I have to plan what I want to do when Im at Petes and make sure I bring everything I need to get those jobs done. I always seem to forget something though lol.

Ill post up some pictures when I get them uplinked on the photobuckets.
