I'll take all the body parts that aren't rusted.

you will likely need to take the whole thing. he told me he was asking 3,200. I passed on the 2nd cruiser because I do not have storage and at that price its higher than a non-running cruiser should bring IMHO.

Either-way I'll post so if your interested you can speak with the owner.

well made it to Tucson from Florida. Chasing the sunset on the plane ride was just stunning.

We are meeting the owner tomorrow morning and should be on the road hopefully no later than 12. Still have to stop at wallyworld and purchase a few items.

I'll get a chance on the drive to upload a few pics once we get underway. Till then some sleep and then I take delivery.

now that i type all this out I am starting to think that I might have been sniffing glue when I decided to buy a FJ55!

;)

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

So here is an update as my dad is driving the 55

We met the seller John and drove to his beautiful home outside of benson, az. The view is enough to make one want to stay for a long while.

We talked and I pulled some parts from the 2nd cruiser which he is trying to sell. I pulled the stock carb and air cleaner assembly. That took a little longer than we had planned.

We got on the road at 130 pm after some shopping and lunch. Cruiser really drives great. Asside from the missing door weather stripping which makes for a loud experience its very nice. Cruising speed is 60mph.

AC lost charge but temp has been rather pleasent thus far.

Currently we have gone 223 miles and have 170 more to go tonight.

We will stop in El Paso for dinner then drive to Van Horn TX to stay for the night.

I'll post some photos once we get to wifi as my 4g keeps stalling on the upload.

Attached are the few pages from the Road Ready inspection I ordered. Thought you all would like to see a few more. Sorry for the PDF as thats all I've got at this point.

Look at the photos of the gas tank where the spare tire usually goes. Looks like an extended range tank. What do you all think? Anyone seen one like this?
SNIP

Looks like you're rocking down the highway. Keep on truckin'...

Looked at the PDF RoadReady. More impressed still at this beautiful truck.

Does look like a extra capacity tank. Stock was about 22 gallons, IIRC, with the spare underneath. Spare in cargo area is your first clue.

I looked at the tank itself. It looks different than the 55 gallon Man-a-fre tank I had. The Man-a-fre tank suspends by bolts through the floor of the cargo compartment. This one has some sort of bracket welded to the frame. So I'm not sure what you've got, maybe something custom made. Guess you'll know what it holds when you fill it up.

2nd pig that is for sale. Minus carb & air cleaners. No PS or AC.
call John @ 520 -Five eight six-2020 for more information. John is a stand-up guy and will be straight with you. No suprises except it was better than I expected. Think he is asking 3,000 however he will likely work with you. Cash talks.

So we logged 389 miles today and stopped in Van Horn, TX for the night.

Note the self - Weather stipping is a must. Without it the cruiser sounds like a jet engine next to your ear.

Gas Mileage was a wopping 10.8 MPG's

cruiser is running well however it will need a tune-up at some point and the steering wheel aligned.

Having a fun time and enjoying time with my dad. Signing off for the night.

Tomorrow: We will try to make it to the east side of Houston. Going to be a long haul but miles won't count down without the skinny pedal down. ;)

626 miles for Tomorrow......

Sounds like an awesome trip i would love to do with some day with my Dad. Have fun on the trip and stay safe!

Nick

What gave you the idea for the blue tape up front? Well, now you can see that the truck should be painted blue and white. :D Thanks for the photos and info. 600+ miles will be a very long day...

Epic! I wish my dad was well enough for a cross country trip in my pig.

So far we have gone 192 to roday. Feels like the pig is loosing up and running better than yesterday. Much smoother and able to drive 65 rather than 55. Sounds and feels just like a seeing machine.

Back is a little sore. We purchased four pillows from Wally World and sit on one and one behind the back. Pretty comfirtable considering the alternative.

Blue tape was an idea from a friend. He put it on his new car before completing a 3000 mile trip. The tape takes the abuse and keeps the paint show quality.

The body is the cleanest I've ever seen. The PO spent 7800 on the body and it shows no bondo or ripples. Really a sharp job.

Interior will be my next project starting with weather stripping then rebuild seats, door cards, Dash cap, led lighting.
