I got the seats home. Love how they turned out.

I put the seats back in the 80. Couldn’t be happier. Almost have the interior back together. Waiting on the LHD shifter from Japan. Realized the one they had sent me was for a RHD when I went to install it. I may have to make @Roxx a deal on it.

Finished up this afternoon installing the Landtank castor brackets. @roadstr6 called it. The brackets make a huge difference on the hwy. I took it on a short Test drive and could tell right away. Hope to weld them in tonight and drop off for an alignment in the morning

New ride in the last photo? Looks to have about 7.8 million pounds of thrust.

Thinking about trading it in. Always looking for the next thing to Overland in with enough room for the family.

It left earth at around 6,000mph. At that speed I could make It to the monthly meetings in about 5 minutes.

1200+ miles over the weekend for Hurricane creek with the Upstate Crew. The 80 tracked really nice down the highway and the only suprise was a loose Thule bar riser From the RTT bouncing on the trail

Steering had more play than I liked heading up. I stopped at an auto zone on the way home and adjusted the sector screw. Steering now feels tight and responsive at highway speeds.

Two things I noticed that need addressing.
  • After running the fridge over night cranking seem sluggish. I’m going to change the battery. Not sure of its history so it’s time to go.

  • noticed oil on the steering stabilizer. Inspection confirmed it’s the distributor Oring.
I replace it previously with a generic o ring. The oil has made the belts and upper radiator hose soft in spots. Will be Ordering belts, oring, and an upper hose fromToyota
Back home. Wish it was a little faster and a little more spacious. Over all really happy with it. Current mileage 290,789

The oil on my stabilizer turned out to be a leaky power steering pump. Between old O rings and old rock hard PS return hose, there are a lot of opportunities for leaks in the PS system and the pump sits directly over the steering stabilizer. You might want to check that in addition to the dizzy o ring. I replaced all the soft parts on my pump and the leak improved, but ended up migrating to the large disc on the back of the pump. Ultimately I ended up rebuilding the pump and now it is leak and whine free.

I thought the same thing. Looking back at this thread I changed the pump around March 10 with a new Toyota seal. It was dry under the pump but wet under the distributor. Briefly thought it was my PS reservoir cap seal leaking. Id find oil underneath it makIng me think it was seeping out. Looks like the belts were slinging it after it dripped.

I think your truck looks fantastic by the way. The black with gray steelies just does it for me. Good choices all around. Congrats!

Did some Maintenance last week before Over the Mountain with Upstate. After the last trip the Distributor O-ring was leaking. Oil leaked on the belts, slung it on the upper radiator hose and on the battery box. The oil ruined the belts, upper hose and the battery box.

Before the trip the Air wasn't cooling like it should. My problems linked to a small leak in the ac evap core. I overnighted a evap core from rock auto Tuesday morning, with a Denso expansion valve. It showed up Thursday morning before I left to meet up with Upstate. I left a little later but the it was worth it to have AC.

The 80 ran solid all weekend. Covered about 700 miles. It kept us dry, safe and got us home in an uneventful way. Only thing I notice to address is a small exhaust leak on the down pipe at the exhaust hanger.

Drivers battery box to be replaced upon arrival.

I was talking to Scheel-Mann about that exact thing for my 04. I have stoopid air bag seats. Looks so good!

Looks like black balsam to me. The whee is still pretty much under gate lock n key :(

yeah, that's what I thought. Since I only got to go once, my memory is fuzzy but it looked awfully familiar.
