The three girls, selling your house, and a new LC project. Austin, you are a marvel. Glad to know that you will not be sitting around bored!
I am not bored! I joke that I’m gonna go back to work so I can get a break.

Figured I just keep this thread going on any cruiser project I have going in on. So on the 60 I’m currently on pause till we move in about two weeks.

I’ve grinded the bondo from the roof and removed the glass to expose the worst. I have big ideas and eager to get to the new house to continue drilling out more spot welds.

I found a local member with a 60 with rotted wheel wells and a rotten frame for $200 with good floors and roof. It has the exact opposite problem I have. Plan is to take the two cruisers and create one good one.

Parts are accumulating. Plan it to do some maintenance and drive it about 10 min to the new house.

Side note. I heard from the current owner of my Previous Black 80. It’s getting used taking his family out exploring the trails of Missouri. I miss the truck but glad I built something that is getting used.

Amazing. Document this restoration. People will not believe it when you are finished!

Made the move about 2 weeks ago. The new garage is seperate, insulated, temperature controlled and has its own bathroom.

:)

I spent some time this weekend getting organized, unpacking the cruiser and started working on removing the roof minimizing more damage.

It even has columns. Nice!
The main house has them too. It looks like we live in a natural science museum. The floor plan and the property sold us. I have plenty of room for a Future ONSC camp out.

You keeping the stock jets or tuning it? I've had good luck with swapping out jets to suit your altitude.

I may tune it. The Webber is a 38/38 and my daily commute elevation ranges from 600’ to around 1600’.

I put a 60 together with a 38/38 and rejetting helped it out a ton. Lots of knowledge out there by fj40jim I believe, in the 40 section.

Finished the desmogg and reassembled. Runs fantastic with only few fixes needed. The alternator is a 3 plug and the factory harness is a two plug. It’s been a few months since I order the alternator and now that I’ve installed, I’m sure a return is out of the question. .... Maybe I can convert or adapt the 3 pin to the 2 pin plug. Someone smarted than me may can chime in.
The other fix needed is an exhaust leak at the manifold some where. I went ahead and ordered a header to solve that issue.

Ended up using the 60 around the property today. With out the tail gate and seats I basically have a convertible truck with a hitch, which came in handy for random jobs hauling tools and materials around.

Busy day. Slowly putting it back together. Repaired the interior harness channel along the rocker. Used a combination of spot welds and seam sealer. The roof skin I removed is the source of patch panels.

pictures for future reference

Started here.

after the meet and greet I came home motivated to show up in the 60 next time I come. Had a local buddy keep telling me about a 60 he scrapped with a good roof. We went by and the body was complete on a good frame. $125 later it was in my garage the next day.

Plans are evolving. I’m going down the rabbit hole. I’ll be stripping it down and building off the new frame.
