Well the 40 I sold the 80 for has been sold out from under me..... not sure what I'm going to get next. I've been wanting to do a frame off 40. To be continued....

I may have to get @jamesurq to make me a " I Identify as a Land Cruiser" sticker for the Power Wagon.

Damn dude you sold the 80 drove it all the way out there and the guy you were buying the 40 off of sold it out from under you. That friggen sucks. I've had a few things get sold out from under me recently but nothing like that.

Well Guys the new addition arrived last night at 9:06 pm. He’s healthy and beautiful. Mom is doing ok and dad couldn’t be more excited.
This is what happens when you’ve been drinking at the Jack Daniels Distillery and @AJR sends you a project.
After missing out on a few other 60s I was feeling brave. I text the seller I’d take it. That’s what happens with friends like Jack and Adam and the rest of ONSC.
Now I need to name him. Suggestions welcome

Jack?

Congrats man.

nice beetle vert too! The lil ladies?

He’s referring to Mr Daniels. I merely suggested that he purchase the 60, Mr Daniels further encouraged him. It went something like this,
Adam: Hey check out this 60
Austin: sweet, I’m at the Jack Daniels distillery.
Austin: (3 mins later) I bought the 60.

Oh I know exactly who he’s blaming ;)
Hence suggesting it for a name.

Cause you don’t know JACK unles you’ve been elbow deep in the undercarraiage !
Ok. So maybe jack o Lynn ?

This is basically how the conversation went. I wanted a 60 when I bought the black 80 so it wasn't a hard sell. Mr Daniels did help with the decision to acquire Jack or maybe it was Jack that helped acquire Mr Daniels....🤔 Either way, Im glad hes here.

What are plans for the 60?
The plans is to preserve it right now. Re-do the interior and cut out the obvious rust. Its weird, theres very minimal rust on the bottom at the normal areas. tailgate fenders, wheel wells, rockers. The major rust is around the roof rain gutters.

The story is Jack was physician owned and parked at his beach house in South Carolina. I think it was left under a tree and the moisture from the leaves rotted out the roof. Theory seem plausible since the minimal wear on the lower half.

From the Asheville stickers and NC tag maybe the previous owner will see this and fill me in on the story, or maybe someone around Upstate or ONSC knows the truck.

As it sits currently...192k. Its runs and drives, and about 98% complete. It came with a folder with 30 years of receipts. 1 piece of chrome trim is missing on the rocker and the radio has been changed for a cassette player. The original spare is still in place and even the original Jack and took kit. I can enjoy it as is or dive in as far as i want. Time will tell. The goal for 20 21 is to attend the Meet and Greet and also the Relic Run.

Roof rot is common in areas close to the coast. @cruisermatt lives near Orlando and has a ton of rot in his roof.

Get at it sooner rather than later, it's not going to get better :) Looking forward to what you do!

Looks like I may be in for alittle more preservation than planned.

We put the house on the market so I’m working in between showings. I’ve been able to expose a lot of the rot on the roof and strip the interior. I’ll be doing a roof transplant and a rear floor.

So far I’ve found a 60 shell with a good roof and rear floor about an hour from me. The plan is to strip the body and interior and have it sand blasted.
