Had our first snow a couple of weeks back. My guess is, this is probably the first time the 60 was really put to use in 4x4. Hub locking seems to work fine but the selector knob kept sliding out of 4H. I've done a search but any advice where to start trouble shooting? Gonna need that 4x4 up here!

I’ve read about worn motor mounts allowing enough drivetrain movement to knock the transfer out of gear. I’ve never experienced it though.

Have you checked your detent spring and ball bearing.

Re: 4x4 not staying in 4h

Replaced the spring and ball bearing. Five minute job and as others have noted in previous threads, the new spring is definitely different. 4x4 appears to operate normally now, staying in gear. I'll find out for sure over the next few days as we are due for a couple feet of snow.

Just confirming - 4H and 4L work great with the new bearing and spring on the tractor in deep snow. Thanks to the great resource that is ih8mud.

Man I am so over snow blowing and shoveling at this point!

Made it through the rest of the winter with 4x4 working well. However, now that we're into summer and more intense fire road use, I'm back to the stick popping out of 4h.

Any thoughts on what I should look into next? Thanks for any help.

Adjustment of you shift linkage and also check the ball/spring detent. Maybe spring is bad.

Haven't had much time to tend to Cruiser projects (other than taking it fishing :steer:), in the meantime I am still having the issue with 4x4 shifter popping out of 4h (new detent spring and ball installed) and now my drivers side door lock is stuck. Nothing will get you going like climbing through the passenger door all the time I guess...

So, any advice on where to start with the drivers side door lock issue?

Many thanks.

Stuck how?

Key won’t rotate? It rotates but lock doesn’t pop up?

Rotation requires a cleaning and lubrication, the unlock function could be a plastic clip that holds the control rods in place. One could have come undone or broken with aging plastic.

If you pull the door Card ( unscrew 2 screws on arm rest, remove window regulator arm with small hooking tool or screwdriver) you can then carefully pull the plastic pins in the door cards around the edges of the door.

You’ll need to carefully pull the plastic weather barrier back and you should be able to see the lock linkage/lock core to see what is going on.

Key will insert but lock will not turn. It started intermittently but now it won't turn at all. You can unlock the door from the inside, just not via the external lock. Sounds like lock removal and cleaning is in order then?

Sounds like the cylinder is gunned up and won’t rotate. I’m not sure what the best cleaning/lubrication process is but i’m Sure someone has gone thru it here on Mud.

Man i can't remember the member's name here on mud right now but he makes keys and lock cylinders
I think the guy you're thinking of used the handle RAGINGMATT but he recently changed it to @ToyotaMatt
