After a nice lunch in Telluride, Ophir pass to get back to base in Silverton-

This was our last night in Silverton. The next morning, we hooked up the trailer and headed back to Telluride via Ophir Pass. Took less than 2 hours, which is much quicker than taking the highway.

Ophir is not as difficult as Black Bear, but equally as stunning!

Fantastic pictures and scenery....last year I went out west and near Monument valley is a road with scary switchbacks-you basically driving up the standing rock wall in front of you I don"t know how tall, but a lot....Another scary thing was somewhere in Oregon driving from Nevada...Those two most dangerous roads I will not forget neither...Glad you enjoyed your trip...

And a few other pictures from the week. I have been to quite a few beautiful places, but this area in SW Colorado can't be beat for me. We will be back soon to see more of what the area has to offer!

Your pictures are great! If you don't mind me asking, what was your average speed on your trip? 55mph, 65mph, 75mph? With that V-8, and I know you are towing, but what is a comfortable speed of your rig on the highway?

I passed you when I was leaving Ouray last week. Perfect time of year for the San Juans. Great photos!

Gorgeous pictures Riley!!

Thanks Danny!

Love the pictures, looks like a great trip thanks for sharing.

It was, thanks!

Switchbacks can be scary! A spotter definitely helps!

Nice pics...what lens are you using?

Thanks.... Sony a6000 with Sony 18-105 G Lens

65-70 on flat land. It feels very comfortable at that speed, and the trailer has brakes. Usually 55 on steep grades up hill. My favorite feature of my 5 speed auto is when I am going down hill and I tap on the brake pedal, it will downshift automatically so I don't have to manually shift or ride the brakes. I actually never realized how useful that feature was until this trip.

super nice 40 and trailer set-up and those pics are pure art :cheers:
these are all places i dream of visiting since i was a little boy

You need to do it! It's worth it!

I passed about 6 40's, 4 60's, a couple 80's, and a few 200's! I couldn't even keep track! You're right though, perfect weather!

@jetranger Riley your pics are making me wish I did that run to Telluride this summer!!! Going to be in Vegas Friday and Saturday, maybe meet up for a beer? Tom

I'll be doing stuff around the house this weekend, but you're more than welcome to come by for a beer!

What kind of gas mileage are you getting now? Looked like an awesome trip man! Should be starting on my frame off in 2 weeks when we get back to the mainland! Super excited. Thanks man!

That's just awesome Riley!
