dont have long to type cause I need to get some sleep for tmrow BUT:

I actually had all intentions of giving you guys some photos....but I didnt have time to take them! I logged 9 hours in the shop today....

Its fully assembled....

List for tmrow

Take apart third memeber and put in thrush washers...

Put tranny bolt in place

Bolt down 2 missing bushings for tub

Remove Heim joints from shocks and put shocks on

Bend the gas peddle

Drive to pagosa (1hr away) and put on bumper

Drive back and get new tires put on (33 12.50 cooper SST)

Drive to buddys house and fab half doors

Drive to painters house and use his plasma cutter to put in ebrake

Drive home and SLEEP

In regards to the old fenders...I think the plan is going to be: bend some tubing to run around the outside edge...for protection...then cut out all the old sheet metal...then lay fresh stuff down and use them as offroad fenders...somewhat like the MT tube fenders...only homemade...and shi*ty looking

Im in Moab now... Waiting for my mom to come with a truck so we can Uhaul it back! The rear main is leaking TONS (3 quarts yesterday) of oil. CM07 was AWESOME though. I only got to run a bit less than half of a trail the first day before it broke...

SO I have to pull the tranny back out and have it (engine) fixed.

On the way down it was smoothe sailing.

I actaully picked up a new call sign there... "90 Weight" this is because the last 3 days I have spent 90% of my time under my rig...and on the first day when I was pulling off the rear drum break for the ebrake and it spilled out nearly 2 quarts of 90 weight oi! Then...I was so busy installing other stuff I didnt have time to change for the next day...so I looked and smelled like 90 weight oil...

I dont have a card reader so no pics yet...BUT I took nearly 300 photos (maybe 40 of my rig or me under it!) and will post all of them when I get back home to a card reader.

While I was here I installed the front shocks, ebrake, power steering, new needle and seat for the carb, and many other things that my sleep deprived mind cannot recall.

I actuall was the first to pioneer a new award this year...they created the "Comic" award for me since I had so much go wrong!

All in all it was a great time.

Big thanks to all of you who helped me out or lent me parts!

I must say all that Eli is a GREAT sport!

Through all of his trials and tribulations I never once saw him without a smile on his face

Everytime I went to speak with him and introduce myself he was "busy", although I did get a chance to say hi (sort of) in the parking lot at the Bar M after the dinner/award/raffle.

The first time I saw Eli and his very nice 40 was as he pulling into the tech inspection Thursday morning at about 7:30am. The inspector pointed out he only had 2-wheel drive

So off Eli went to install his front driveshaft . Sort of a prelude of things to come for the rest of the week.

Eli, you have a great attitude and a very nice 40 and maybe at CM08 I'll actually get to really say Hi

Thanks Jeff, yep I was pretty busy...and will continue to be busy for the next few months while I deal with the engine mess again. Im also going to revamp the suspention...planning on buying a proffitts spring over setup.

Same to you Art. That last run on Saturday was a blast! My brother wont stop talking about wanting a cruiser... so hopefully he'll get a chance to drive my 40...instead of just watchcing me fix it!

so on the tech side....this is the plan/question

first off I am going to do the proffitts SOA kit...

next...and the more important one im looking to get info on is:

At this point I will have to take out the engine....Jegs is going to give me a refund....so I have about $1300 to play with in terms of getting a drivetrain put in....

Here are the two options (feel free to add a new idea)

A: I go to a junkyard and find a low-ish mileage suburban with a fuel injected 350...get that for hopefully around 300-500 and then spend $400 on an howell EFI harness....

B: I put in a GM 6.5L Deisel


what do you guys think?


Im really interested in the deisel idea...but I dont really know anything about diesels except they run for like 400k miles average.

I will be calling proffitts cruisers tmrow to see what they think.. (they were the ones that gave me the idea of the 6.5 at CM...but I hadnt seriously considered it till today)

What do you guys think.

OR if I win the lottery I would put in a new Cummins with a NP 5 speed/ AA orig trans with an orion!
