Congrats Mr Cimarron, enjoy hat Rig. the wait was long but I'm sure you feel proud at this moment that you Finally owned a TLC.

I have some Questions for you?

1- Are you going to leave the window tint or you are going to remove it?
2- Since you have a Light orange on paint, have you consider dark paint for those rims?

1. Window tint will stay. The top will be coming off as soon as I get the roll bar mounted. I need to figure out some sort of bracing since it didn't originally come with the roll bar. Soft top will come when funds build back up but until then it will live in the garage to keep rain out.
2. Yes I originally was going to paint or powered coat the rims black but they looked so pretty when I got them I decided not to. It would've been a shame to paint them knowing what I paid for them as well.

ok ok I see, well in case that you want to paint with dark paint but keep the original paint as well there is a Paint called Plastidip, is 100% removable and in case you want to back to original paint you just pull it off like a sticker and wont make any hurts on the original paint.

That Rig will look so good on a Soft top. Can't wait to see more pictures. plus all the stuff that are awaiting to be mounted on.

Wheels look great. I would leave them as is. Your firewall plate should have the trans info unless you think it's been replaced.
The data plate is missing.

Yesterday I swapped suspension which took me about five hours. I am pretty sore this morning as I haven't had a solid session like that in awhile. All bolts came out easily and I could tell the spring bushings had been replaced multiple times before. There were three different colors. I managed to take off three corners of u bolts before I got smart and broke out the grinder to cut off the last two. It was too late when I stopped to get any good photos so I'll snap some today. Only one I took was the pile of old parts at the end.

I forget, did you go with the Terrain Tamer 2.5" suspension?
I have the TT 50mm HD lift which is close to a 2" lift. Looking at it last night it seemed to only net me a little over an inch. I used OME shackles and don't know how they compare to the TT equivalent. The 255/85s fit nicely in wheel wells but I need to see if they will bonk the fenders before the axle hits the bump stops. Which reminds me I still need to cut off the excess U-bolt since they are pointing up now with the U-bolt flip kit that was installed.

The best I can do this morning. Too much crap behind it to back it out. If I was smart I would have wrote down the before measurement. I only put it in the mental library which failed me when I tried to remember the number after install.

The mud flaps are going to look awesome on it.

I do believe one of the vendors (CCOT?) sold brackets for the factory roll bars.

Cruiser is looking good.

I thought that as well but when I emailed them they said I was mistaken and they don't make them.

Yes they will. I need to rework the exhaust if I mount them behind tire so I may put them on back behind taillight for now.

Tonight was a fluid change night. Changed the oil which was nothing special. Drained out the coolant which was the typical Costa Rican blend of straight water. It was pretty clean at least. I also installed a new thermostat since there wasn't one there. Once I fired it up I noticed all the gauges work except the oil pressure so I need to figure that one out. I also noticed when I flip the hazard switch I only get blinky blink on the passenger side. I can't remember if working hazard is part of the diesel safety state inspection. Other than that blinkers, lights, and horn work so I should be good.

I bit more progress this afternoon. I made some new battery cables with new terminals with some scrap cable we had at work. I am going to shorten the negative cable a bit. The old cables has seen better days.

I also installed front bumper and winch. I still need to wind in the rope but the terminals didn't fit the military battery terminals I bought. I need to change the winch cable ends first.

When I pulled the truck out of the garage it had a lean to it. The passenger side is higher than the other side. Maybe the new springs need to settle in?
After all this was done the wife and I took it on the highway for some diesel and a beer run. Plenty of looks from people especially since I still have the Costa Rican plates on.
We got it up to 80- 90Km and it started to wonder a bit. My guess is it may need some caster correction so when I get back from my work trip in a week I'll take it in for an alignment to get some numbers.

I am very much enjoying watching this thread Cim. Those new wheels look great.
It's a fun little project so far. The best part is the available space to work in the garage. 40's are so small compared to 80's.
I checked the steering play yesterday morning and it's about 4" on the wheel. I think that is one reason it's wondering a bit at highway speed. I'm going to try to shoot a video for the gallery this evening so I can get some feedback on the next step. Eventually it will get power steering but if I need to pull the manual box it might make sense to push it up on the to do list.
