Couldn't tell you if it was on the unaccounted VIN list or not.

I can ask but I don't think he was active on Mud.....

Not a bad candidate to get running and sell either....
Looks like its time in VA has been rough on it. I'll gladly give it a good home further South. Seriously though, let me know if you decide to sell it at some point or if you come across another one.

Ah....it's further south than SC....it's in FL. I grew up in VA.....the 40s I had up there got beat down. This one sat for about 6 years. Looks like it was titled to my buddy in 2000. Drove/worked on it for 6 years. Parked it and that was it. Must have had a lot of sun exposure as it is in pretty good shape. They had rolled the floors with Durabak(what we used way back then)....so it's pretty clean and solid. Jack holder is there, rear heater is in it....again, pretty complete. Even the rear seat hold downs are there. The seat back holders weren't but I had a set of those...

I'll keep you posted....now that I can see the white under it, I think I might keep it. It's going to be a really cool old truck to drive. I really like the seating position too....it would be a really good daily driver(modded the way I have my 45LPB....3FE, 4 speed, discs, AC, PS, 3.73s). Really tough to beat for how I use my trucks.

Awesome, I love the patina of that LV, and with the OME suspension, it looks great. With the 3FE it will be more grunt. Those trucks are hard to find in these parts!

cheers,

Joel

I like the patina too.....

I know the 3FE takes heat for being a pig but it works really well in these trucks...fits right in, looks proper and really feels good with a manual behind it. I couldn't be happier with that setup in my LPB.....covered about 7500 miles with it and it's been great.

very cool.

If you are going to swap out the Ol F power plant i would be very much interested in the big window carb. My 65 Fj45 PU carb is currently in no working, non rebuild-able condition. Roy would love that carb.

thank you, good luck with the project.looking forward to watching the progress.

I was getting ready to offer you my first born child for a door latch but I found the one I was missing just a minute ago.

You can still have my first born child if you want. He's 22 and very good at occupying a couch.

Thanks but no thanks on the couch occupier. I have a 21 year old employee that tests my limits daily....today was "sand the old rusty truck day" at the shop. About the next 2 weeks will be the same for him.

I need to figure out why there were 2 hinges...I'm guessing drivers door replacements. Seems to be the door with the biggest issue, as you'd expect. I will almost feel bad about using them....

Today's sanding progress....

Decided to wait to do the mechanical upgrades and get it to the metal guy since it has a bit more rust than I expected AND he has a 3 week opening in between jobs. One of my hot rod buddies recommended this guy.....he's a 21 year old with quite a bit of talent. He took a look at the truck last week and said it was similar to Suburban roofs he has done in the past. We'll do the front A-pillars....a couple of spots near the rear doors on the rocker and probably the rear corners of the tailgage opening. They seemed a bit crunchy. If we have time, I'll have him do a little work on the floors....it's in pretty good shape.

On the hook.....rotted A-pillars, lovely carpet padding under the headliner.

Some progress on the 45.....looks like mostly floorboard stuff. I haven't had a chance to see the truck in person....pics are from the metal guy. According to him, he'll be on the A-pillas/roof stuff next week. Looks pretty nice so far.....the inner rockers were rotted out completely....wasn't really planning on doing this much but I guess it's better to do it now as he has the time.....it needs to be done.

I need to figure out how I'm going to coat all the fresh metal along with the rusted old stuff......

I hope it's interesting......it's sure a cool old truck.

More progress on the rust today. I'm going to see it tomorrow so I'll get a chance to take better pics hopefully. Body guy said he finished the driver's side A-pillar/roof in a day. Said the floor was much more difficult. I think he just has to finish the front passenger corner and then I want him to take a look at the rear corners of the tailgate opening....one side felt a little crunchy.

I'm also thinking I might keep her stock powered for now. I've got a custom 79 series pickup build going on right now that is sucking up a lot of funds. A LOT of funds. lol.
