How do you turn it by hand? At the fan?

Gabe, if you have to ask the above question you are not ready for a SBC.

In regard to the SBC, why 50 year old technology when LSX motors are a far superior choice? Sounds to me like you have someone trying to get you on the SBC band wagon.

Do yourself a big favor and read some 40 series swap threads. It creates a lot of issues you probably are not considering.

Nope. Tried again this morning. I assume this s where I am suppose to be able to turn it over by hand.

Tempted to put a 2f in there if I could locate one reasonably-priced.

I pulled the radiator. That's why there is standing water.

No but I haven't honestly tried. I may put the 2f out of my 60,in it.

I may be buying a fj62 for the drive train. Not 100 percent sure yet however.

Thats an easy swap... devils in the wiring. Keep the 62 harness intact if you can.

Ordered a painless wiring harness today. Downloaded the fsm from trollhole as well.

Harness came in today. Looks like each individual wire is labeled. Thank god!

How much was the harness??

There is nothing painless about a painless harness.
Cant say that I agree, I installed a full harness in a 78 Jeep in a short afternoon. Easy Peasy
Not familiar with a generic harness or a 40 specific harness though

From what I understand I will hack to crimp the connectors from the old harness to the new one.

Ah, the Jeep harness was completely pre terminated, right down to the fire wall block. I would be soldering everything Gabe, removes the chance of crimps letting go.

Considering it is designed for a Jeep I'd hope 4 hrs. Most of the stuff won't be bad. Until you get to the light and hazard wiring.
